MEETING NOTICE
City of Ithaca
Planning & Economic Development Committee
Wednesday, November 14, 2012 – 6:00 p.m.
Common Council Chambers, City Hall, 108 East Green Street
There will be no formal Planning Committee meeting tomorrow. However, we have
taken the lack of agenda items as an opportunity to have a presentation/conversation
about form-based codes (FBC), a concept we have been discussing for some time.
Chris Hawley and Chuck Banasa, city planners and designer/activists, have re-written
the zoning code for the City of Buffalo. http://www.buffalogreencode.com/. They are
passionate about the concept of FBC and they would like to share the lessons learned
and help other communities avoid some of the mistakes they made. This will be the only
item on the agenda and will be an opportunity for an informal discussion and follow up
questions. The presentation should last around 30 to 40 minutes.
They will also be giving the same presentation from 12:00 to 1:15 tomorrow at the Borg
Warner room of the Public Library. Planners from municipalities throughout the region
have been invited to this session. Please feel free to pass on the information to others
you think may be interested.
