State St. They explained that they will be renovating the interior to include adding an accessible bathroom, installing new front windows and an accessible ramp to the entrance. There isn’t access to the back of the building, so materials would need to be delivered through the Primary Commons. It is expected that the work on the façade would take 4-6 weeks, with completion in June 2016. The business next door, Moonie’s Bar, is aware of the project. The Board generally agreed with the proposed renovations. Mr. Snyder and Mr. Lyman further explained another proposed project to renovate the Chemung Canal Bank Building, which would include replacing windows on the upper levels of the building and improving the accessible entrance on the Bank Alley side of the building. They are looking to modify the building’s use into commercial/retail on the first floor and residential on the upper levels. The residences would include 36 studios, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, marketed to couples and small families for longer term leasing. At this time, three businesses will need to move out of the building. Julie noted that noise is number one complaint from residences due to the local bars, which may deter people from living on The Commons for more than a year. Mr. Snyder stated that the timeframe for this project is scheduled for August to October 2016. Staging for the construction will be in the parking area behind the building. There may be possible conflict with the Commons fountain construction. The board generally approved this project.
