HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-09-29 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF DANBY TOWN PLANNING BOARD September 29 , 1971 Present : Olson , Kirk , Cole , Smith , Weitzel , Chapman Available facts were presented for consideration on the possibility of a site for the town highway barns . The board would like to know if any other sites are available at this time , and if so which ones ? Possibilities that were brought u p were the old Moore property ( corner96B & Hornbrook Road ) , and possibly the property across from the Harry Hatfield ✓ esidence . The board felt that they would try to make a def - inite recommendation at the next meeting based on available information at that time . The main point of contention as to the extension of the West Danby Water District by Richard Blatchley was the poss - ibility of further extension of the district eventually beyond the point at which it would end when Blatchley is through . Aside from this , there were no qualms assuming the water commissioners were aware of possible pitfalls . The question was raised as to whether the board should consider something less than the currently stated 1 , 000 square feet Minimum dwelling size . The consensus was that it remain as is as any variance could be taken up with the Board of Zoning Appeals thereby making each exception stand o n it ' s own merits . They seem to feel that if the minimum were lowered , it night open the door for developers putting u p lower class cheaper homes . The board didn ' t feel as though they could redefine the word " family " in the zoning glossary of terms so as not to cover students without eliminating practical situations . Richard Blatchley made a request that we consider the possibility of a 200 by 200 foot lot including highway right of way and the board felt that it be left as stated in the current zoning regulations and that if a request were made for less area with good reason , the option of the Board of Appeals is open . The board felt that there wasn ' t substantial reason for considering a differentiation between R1 zone and another classification of a lesser degree to cover perhaps rural areas without electricity etc .
