HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-04-07 /2WR - SPECIAL MEETING OF DANBY TOWN BOARD April 7 , 1971 A Special Meeting of the Danby Town Board together with the members of the Planning Board was held on Wednesday , April 7 , 1971 . PRESENT : Town Board Members Planning Board Members Supervisor Donald Makie Chairman Richard Olsen Councilman Gerald Crance Paul Smith Councilman Ralph Wilbur Mildred Weitzel Justice Floyd Dorn W . Chapman Justice A . F . Wright Ernest Cole Also Present : Robert Tallman , Gary Schneider and Less Ottez, who presented a proposal for a Planned Development in West Danby for a Recreation Area . Maps of the area and of a proposed lodge to be built were presented . The total cost of the proposed project , to be called "Mt . Danby , Inc . " will be approximately $ 620 , 000 . 00 , of which approximately $ 375 , 000 . 00 has been committed . Options ' on all of the necessary acreage ( 627 acres ) have been obtained . Mr . Tallman , explained the proposed construction of the lodge and other building . The proposal would require re - zoning of the area to Residential - Recreation . Hf' . Danby , Inc . also presented a proposal for leasing land in the Water District for skiing purposes . Mt . Danby , Inc . would want to purchase water for snow making as well as for regular use in the Lodge facilities . The general feeling of those present was that the proposal was a good thing for the Town of Danby and Tompkins County . A motion was made to pass this proposal for a Planned Recreational Development to the Planning Board . The Motion was made by Councilman Crance , and seconded by Francis Wright . The motion was carried by five ayes and no noes . A discussion followed . Mr . Crance will call a meeting of the Water Commissioners as they must grant the lease of the Water District land first . The Planning Board has scheduled a meeting for April 14th , and will call in Frank Liguori , County Planning Chairman as .Mt : Danby , Inc . will have to comply with all of the requirements set forth by Health Regulations . There being no further business to be transacted , Councilman Wright moved that the meeting be adjourned . Motion was seconded by Councilman Crance . Motion carried by five ayes and no noes .
