HomeMy WebLinkAboutG - 08 Report Parks & Rec Commission 06/2023-07/2023 2023 June and July Town of Cortlandville Parks and Recreation Activity Report 1.Met bi-weekly with the GLSC Committee to discuss park events, project and operational needs at the facility. 2.Assisted the Cortland Crush Baseball organization with 2023 season needs such as scheduling, storage, light programming and day to day season needs. 3.Supervised part-time Recreation Attendants & seasonal cleaning staff and submitted pay roll paper work as needed. 4.Worked with Cortland Town leadership to secure two new AED wall mount devices for Testa Park and GLSC that have a local alarm. New units are operational at both facilities. 5.Attended 3 meetings to discuss the future of a new concession, restroom and office building at GLSC and the budget associated with he new structure. 6.Attended two Town of Cortlandville board meetings and presented to the board the Job Description for the newly created Park and Recreation Maintenance Supervisor position. 7.Attended the June 2023 Cortland Regional Sports Council board meetings. 8.Helped plan and coordinate the Grand Opening event for the phase 2 development at GLSC in conjunction with the first game of the 2023 Crush Season. 9.Attended June Department Head meeting conducted by Supervisor Williams. 10.Met weekly with the Prep Baseball Report Tournament staff to discuss upcoming events and day to day needs. 11.Hired Jacob Rivers a SUNY @ Cortland Recreation Management graduate as a Parks and Recreation Maintenance Supervisor for the Town of Cortlandville. 12.Hired Mike Krewsen at a Part-Time three days per week park labor. Mike bring 30 plus years of experience from Onondaga County Parks and Facility manager at NBT stadium. 13.Reviewed a trash hauling request for proposals that the Town Highway Department staff developed and addressed park trash needs. 14.Updated the RECDESK Management software as additional events have been added to Town of Cortlandville parks athletic fields and pavilions. 15.Gave a GLSC park tour to Melanie Vilardi the new Cortland County Assistance Administrator on how the facility is positively impacting the Cortland County travel and tourism. 16.Met with a Home School Association representatives regarding possible use of town parks for outdoor PE class in the fall and spring of 2023-24 school year. 17.Worked with staff from Guthrie and Base Sports to hang sponsorship signage on field #3 with is also referred to at Guthrie Field moving forward. 18.Created a new Town of Cortlandville facility request form that has been posted on the Town of Cortlandville website. 19. Created a new Food Truck policy and application in conjunction with town leadership which was approved by the town board. 20. Worked with leadership of the Crown City Little League and Adult Softball Leagues to schedule and address needs for games at town parks. 21. Conducted June and July monthly staff meetings with GLSC site supervisors and developed monthly schedules for staff. 22. Trained staff on the newly created Paychex app used for time and attendance data record keeping for payroll and HR task. 23. Met and talked about the Town Parks with Cy Stanley (PBRT) and Andrew Damo (PBRT Intern) 24. Assisted with the development of the Opening Day program Flyer developed by Machell Phelps. 25. Consulted with Ed Devine and Chenango Turf staff Pat Collins regarding turf repairs and replacement. Both Jacob Rivers and Mike Krewsen have leaned the skill of Turf Replacement and have made numerous repairs to the mounds and home plate areas as needed. 26. Worked with Toth Sports of Rochester to make repairs to the scoreboard control panels at both fields. Received an estimate to install new app device so users can control via a cell phone. 27. Created a GLSC FAQ section on the website addressing pet friendly, gate fees, concession ect….. 28. Met with Mike Schoemaker from Hill & Markes Wholesale to create a new government account to take advantage of NYS Contract pricing for items such as paper products, hand soap, trash bags for town parks. 29. Created invoice for June rentals at town parks ball fields and pavilions. 30. Submitted information for the Summer edition of the “Talk of the Town” publication that is distributed to town residents.
