MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE DANBY PLANNING BOARD ,
JULY 8 , 1970 '
Present : Myers , Smith , Weitzel , Olson , Kirk
Also present : Dobson , Crance , representatives from " Dobson " Road ,
G . Roberts
T5inutes of June 10 meeting approved as read and corrected
Question raised to Mr . Crance regarding the Town Board ' s
appointment to fill Dobson vacancy . Position was not filled
and recommendation was made that someone from West Danby be
considered to offer representation to that part of the town .
Dobson presented proposal for planned development district
f or purposes of establishing trailer park on Dobson Road ,
f ormerly called Brown Road , off of Rt . 96B , consisting of
five trailer spaces . After the presentation and a question
and answer period , Richard Olson moved that the Danby Planning
B oard recommend the application be rejected based on the
information provided , and specifically because of these reasons :
1 . 35 foot right of way for entrance road not provided
as requested .
2 . room for future development is very limited
3 . site location is poor
4 . minimum land area for a planned development district
is not satisfied
5 . objectionable to immediately adjacent land owners
Motion was seconded by Smith . Motion passed , 5 ayes , 0 noes .
Mr . Crance discussed with board the possibilities of having the
planning board initiate action to locate and develop recreational
land in West Danby . Myers and Smith are to work with an interested
person in W . Danby and report back to board . '
L etter was read from the New York State Planning Federation about
mambership dues , of $35 . 00 . Letter to be written asking what
benefits $35 . 00 will bring .
Trailer Park guidelines contained in triler park kit was mentioned .
Kit given to M . Weitzel for study and recommendations , to be given
at August meeting .
Tentative proposal for small plaza on 83 acres owned by R . Dobson
adjacent to hips land on Dobson Road briefly outlind for planning
board reaction ;\ to include shops and housing development .
G ordie Roberts asked opinion of board on two cases involving
1 . individual built cinder block garage , then asked for build -
ing permit , wants Into operate as commercial garage ( body shop ) ;
is within PDD of Auto Salvage .
2 . Retail store in R- 2 zone ; is adjacent property owner of 500
f eet , wants to putlin liquor store ; should he get special permit ,
or seek building permit ? Either way will be refered to planning
board . .
Roberts also reported there is a need for positive method of identi -
f ication of junk cars to present strong case for prosecution of .

junk car law violators . Suggestion made that Mr . Roberts find .
a - lawyer familiar with town law , and that at next meeting the
planning board make arrangements to . meet with. Mr . Roberts and
the lawyer . .
