Dear Tom,
Approximately six years ago, I built the house situated at 1314 Bell Drive.
It does not have a full basement and therefore is situated on a crawl space. In
the rear of the house there is an outside water faucet that supplies water to
the back.
There is a ball valve that needs to be turned off before the freezing
temperatures arrive to prevent the pipe from freezing. Unfortunately, we
forgot to turn it off which caused the faucet to freeze and break thus
discharging a great deal of water in the crawl space.
I have contacted Brian from the Water Department and asked him to
calculate how much water that did not enter the sewage system based on past
bills, thus allowing a possible rebate on the sewer bill for that period of time.
I would like to ask the Town Board if they would consider an adjustment on
the water/sewer bill based on Brian's determination as to an appropriate
amount that should be charged.
I have enclosed photos showing the discharge of the water in the crawl space
before the broken pipe was repaired.
Thank you for your consideration,
Yours truly,
John DelVecchio
