A Special Meeting , called by Supervisor Cortrgitht , was held
by the Danby Town Board at the Danby Town Hall , July 1 , 1968
at 8 : 00 P . M .
P urpose of Meeting : Appointments to Town Board and West Danby
Water District transaction .
P resent : Supervisor ;James H . Cortright , _ Councilmen Donald
Makie and A . Francis Wright , Town Justice Floyd
Dorn , Attorney Rivhard Thaler and Ralph Wilbur .
Resignation of Councilman A . Francis Wright was read by the Clerk .
Councilman Donald Makie moved to accept the resignation of
A . Francis Wright . Seconded by Dorn . 3 ayes , . 9 noes , carried .
RESOLUTION # 15 APPOINTMENT OF COUNCILMAN
WHEREAS : the Town Board , Town of Danby , Tompkins County , New _
York held a Soecial Town Board Meeting , July 1 , 1968 at 8 : 00 P . M .
at the Town Hall , proper notice of said meeting having been
given and ;
WHEREAS : the resignation of A . Francis ._ Wright as member of the
Town Board , Town of Danby as Councilman was received and read
by , the Town Clerk July 1 , 1968 , at the aforementioned Special
Meeting and ;
' WHEREAS : the remaining members of the Town Board ,
Town of
Danby have _ accepted the resignation of A . Francis Wright at
8 : 10 o ' clock in the evening of _ July 1 , 1968 , now therefore be it
RESOLVED , ` that Ralph Wilbur , be and is hereby appointed Council - I
man to fill the vacancy, created by the resignation of A . Francis
Wright , Councilman and be it further
RESOLVED , that said appointment become effective at 8 : 12 P . M .
o ' clock in the evening of July 1 , 1968 and continue in effect
u ntil December 31 , 1968 .

RESOLUTION # 16 APPOINTMENT OF TOWN JUSTICE
W HEREAS : the Town Bo a rd , Town of Danb y . Tompkins kins County , New
York held a Special Town Board Meeting , July 1 , 1968 at 8 : 00 P . M .
at the Town Hall , proper notice of said meeting having been
g iven and ; .
W HEREAS : the office of Town Justice , Town of Danby is vacant
as a result of the resignation of Moses Peter , effective III !
June 30 , 1968 , said resignation being on file with the Town
Clerk , now therefore be it �
RESOLVED , that A . Francis Wright be and is hereby appointed ",
Town Justice , To n of Danby , effective immediately ( 8 : 14
o ' clock in the evening , July 1 , 1968 ) , and be it further
RESOLVED , that said appointment shall continue in effect until
the next general election .

SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING a minutes continued
• RESOLUTION # 17 APPRECIATION OF RETIRING JUSTICE
' WHEREAS : the Town Bord , Town of Danby , Tompkins County , New York
held a Special Town Board Meeting , July 1 , 1968 at 8 : 00 F . M . at
the Town Hall , proper notice of said meeting having been given and ;
WHEREAS : the Town Board is aware of the many hours of work both
as a Town ' Justice and Town Board member and ,
WHEREAS : the Town Board , Town of Danby is appreciative of his
many contributions to the Town of Danby , now therefore be it
• RESOLVED , that the Town Board members , Town of Danby wish to
express their thanks to Moses Peter and be it further ,
RESOLVED , that in the future , his thoughts and comments on town
affairs will be welcome and be it further ,
RESOLVED , that this resolution be made a part of the town records
and a copy be sent to Moses Peter .

Attorney Thaler gave Town Board members each a copy of the
proposed new zoning ordinance . Recommended To wn Board meeting
with the Planning Board .
Attorney Thaler presented to the Board the following resolutions
to the Board which are attached to these minutes and made a part
thereof :

Supervisor Cortright received a letter from Reverend Koontz ,
regarding properties . Supervisor will acknowledge ,
Supervisor Cortright reported on Jennings Pond —dike needs
trimming up and Mr . Landstrom will deliver 18 ton of stone .
Attorney Thaler reported that he has written to Mr . Lockets
• attorney about offer on his land .
NEW PICK-UP TRUCK FOR HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
Town Justice Wright moved that that the Highway Superintendent ,
A . Richard Chaffee draw specifications and advertise for bids for
one new four -wheel drive , half - ton pickup truck . Seconded by
Councilman Donald Makie . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried .
Meeting adjourned at 9 : 45 F . M .
