HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-09-14 1 051 PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING September 14 , 1967 A Public Information meeting was held at the Town Hall , Town of Danbyy Thursday , September 14 ; 1967 at 8 : 00 P . M . Purpose : To give Danby voters the following cost estimates for proposed building ; Recreation Center of 3 , 950 square feet - $ 46 , 800 causing a tax increase rate of $ . 84 per $ 1 , 000 assessed valuation . It is assumed this would be largely done 411 with volunteer labor . Town Highway Barn of 13 , 000 square feet - $ 228 , 000 , a tax increase of $4 . 05 per $ 1 , 0:00 . Town Office Building of 2 , 600 square feet - $ 68 , 680 , .. a tax increase of $ 1 . 22 per $ 1 , 000 . Harold Rosa reported Firemens ' position on new fire house . They have hired an architect to plan out fire station and will present a proposal for a public referendum this fall . Tuesday , September 19th the Town Board will meet with the Fire Commissioners to work out mechanics of using the fire house for Justice Court , and Town Board meetings relevant to Town Hall being turned over to the Youth . It was unanimously agreed that these items will be put on a ballot for the public to vote on before this fall ' s election . Those present : Mr . and Mrs . Lawrence VandeBogart , Mr . and Mrs . M . Board Members Present : : Supervisor James H . Cortright , Councilman Donald Makie and Donald Barber , Justices Moses Peter and Floyd Dorn . Councilman Donald Makie moved to waive the three -day notice of a special meeting . Seconded. by Justice Peter . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried . . Councilman Makie made the motion to appoint constables to act as school guards or school escorts as the case may be . Seconded by Justice Peter . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried . Justice Petersmadetthe motion to authorize Constable Richard Van Ostrand to use his personal car with a prtable red light attached at areas where the children cross the highway .
