TOWN OF DANBY
TOWN BOARD MINUTES
September 1 , 1966
The regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Danby
was held at the Town Hall , Thursday , Septemberl , 1966 at 9 : 30 P . M .
after an executive session .
Present : Supervisor James H . Cortright , Councilmen Donald Makie ,
Donald Barber and Justices Henry Makarainen and Moses
Peter .
Also present : Zoning Officer Harry Hatfield , Highway Superintendent
Dick Chaffee and Alfred Schoneman .
Supervisor Cortright called the meeting to order . Minutes of
the August meeting were read and approved .

H ighway - Dick Chaffee reported progress on Erwin. Roads , and now
has four men in highway department .
Resolution #6 Erwin Project for 1967 - 22 miles of
Michigan Hollow Road

B oard of Assessors - Official assessment rolls for 1966 have been
filed , original with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
and a copy with Town Clerk. All necessary state reports
have been filed with the Board of Equalization in Albany .

West Danby Water District - Makie made the motion that the Town Board
hold a Public Hearing at the Grange Hall ,
5 Valleyview Road , West Danby on
September 22 , 1966 at 8 : 00 P . M . regarding
formation of the West Danby Water District .
Seconded by Makarainen . 5 ayes , 0 noes
carried .
Town Office Building - Peter moved to engage an architect to give
preliminary plans for renovation to present
Town Hall and also plans and cost estimates
of a new town office building . Seconded by
Makie . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried .

Sanitary Land Fill - no report
Town Employee ' s Retirement Program - Dick Chaffee expressed the
opinion that the highway employees preferred a salary
increase in lieu of a retirement program . Supervisor
will ask County Personnel Officer for cross section of
wage scale in other towns .
Tax Exemption for Aged - Minutes of the public hearing were read .
It was agreed to postpone any decision .
NEW BUSINESS
Planning Board Appointments - Peter made the motion to reappoint
Herbert Muzzy a member of the Danby Planning Board ,
retroactive to July 1 , 1966 , expiring June 30 , 1973 .
Seconded by Barber . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried . P
Peter made the motion to appoint Milton Todd to fill .
the unexpired term of Harold Adsitt as a member of the
Danby Planning Board , expiring June 30 , 1968 . Seconded
by Barber . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried .
Makie moved to have Town Clerk prepare list of . all Town Offices ,
with dates of expiration , to be presented at July meeting annually .
Seconded by Peter . 5 ayes , O noes , carried .
B oard of Zoning Appeals Appointment - Peter made the motion to
reappoint Mrs . Cynthia Colman a member of the Danby :
Board of Zoning Appeals retroactive to July 1 , 1966 ,
expiring June 30 , 1971 . Seconded by Barber . 5 ayes ,
0 noes , carried .
B ill Scott of Ithaca Insurance Agency will be asked to attend next
Town Board meeting to( discuss Death and Dismemberment and Medical
Insurance for Youth Program .
Makie listed items to be considered for Capital Improvement - -
Fire Building , Highway Equipment , Sanitary Land Fill , Proposed
Lake , Town Office Building , Park in West Danby . I
Supervisor suggested Town Board devote a full meeting to develop =
ment of a Capital Improvement Program .
H ighway Bills e Makarainen moved to pay Highway Bills totalling
$ 881 . 59 #80 through #85 as listed on Warrant 9 .
Seconded by Makie . 5 ayes , 0 noes , carried .
General Fund Bills - Barber moved to pay General Fund Bills
totalling $ 1 , 288 . 25 #70 through #79 as listed on
Warrant 9 . Seconded by Makarainen . 5 ayes ,
