TOWN OF DANBY
TOWN BOARD MINUTES
July 7 , 1966
The regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Danby
was held at the Town Hall , Thursday , July 7 , 1966 at 8 : 00 P . M .
Present : Supervisor James H . Cortright , Justices Henry Makarainen ,
Moses Peter , Couhcilmen Donald Barber and Donald Makie .
Also present : Assessor William Bergman and Alfred Schoneman .
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Cortright .
Minutes of the June meeting were read and approved .
COMMUNICATIONS
• 1 . Attorney Thaler to Supervisor with copy of a letter from State
Comptroller ' s office re : Issuance of Bonds to Finance Projects
for Construction of Water Facilities .
2 . Supervisor to Don Ryan re : Jennings Pond .
3 . Justice William Tucker Dean to Justice Peter re : Adequate
facilities for the conduct of Town Justice work .
4 . Notice of tentative railroad ceiling .
5 . N . Y . S . Federation of Official Planning Organizations to Fred
Thayer .

None from the Board .
" Duke " Schoneman expressed appreciation of initial work done at
Jennings Pond by Supervisor Cortright and Ed Roberts .
Discussion of piles of top soil still around and the decision
to wait until fall . Beach could use more grit .

Youth ' - Barber reported summer youth program has started . Mrs .
Rowland Tamblyn is supervising .
OLD BUSINESS -
Highway - Superintendent absent . Supervisor Cortright reported that
Dick Chaffee has satisfied petition signed by residents
on Jim Brown Road , West Danby .
Zoning 4 Officer absent .
Planning Board - Chairman absent .
Appeals Board - Chairman absent .
Board of Assessors - Chairman Bergman reported in process of adding
up final rolls . A representative from Cleminshaw Co . will
® be at the Open Book Sessions to be held July 19 , 20 , 21 ,
from 1 P . M . to 7 P . M . at the Town Hall .
Town Fall Study - No report from Professor Jacobs . Board agreed
to remove from agenda .
Jennings Pond - Discussion of letter written Ryan from Supervisor
which answered Simpkins ' report of Pond .
Troy Road Junkyard - Supervisor Cortright met with Thaler , Wiggins ,
and Judge Simpson who appear to be in a compromising
situation . Fred Thayer to call Planning Board to meet
at Town Hall , Friday , July 8 at 8 P . M . Supervisor will
set up a meeting to include Barthoif and Petricola and
Attornies Wiggins and Thaler and Judge Simpson , Town
Board and Planning Board , Danby , for either July 11th or
12th .
West Danby Water District - Engineer Martin has reported that a
problem has developed with Department of Health with size
pipe used . When corrected , will call for meeting with the
Town Board .
Town Office Building - Supervisor reported that the general consensus

c % . . of opinion regarding meeting between Town Board and
Planning Board is to embark on a Capital Improvements
Program to consider this fall at budget time for 1967 .
Sanitary Land Fill - Peter reported, that the realtor had not been
able to accomplish anything . Board gave Peter permission
to tell realtor to stop any transactions . Town Board
members will take over effort themselves .
Town Employees ' Retirement Program - Peter reported that
Prudential Insurance will present a plan .
NEW BUSINESS
Letter from Niederkorn to the Danby Community Council regarding
the Town Hall - Peter made the motion that the Clerk write to
Dr . Bryce , Chairman of the Danby Community Council that at this
time , the Council not proceed on any program with Mr . Niederkorn
and Associate for the Danby Town Hall . Seconded by Barber .
5 ayes , 0 noes , carried .
Resolution #4 - Makie moved to transfer $ 236 . 07 from Contingent
Fund of the General Fund to Item I of the
Highway Fund . Seconded by Peter .

Letter to Ryan from the Supervisor - Discussion on future of carried .

Peter left at 9 : 45 P . M .
Makie reported the 701 Plan mentioned making a Community Park on
land in back of West Danby Fire Station and wished something
may be done . Would like to know about land acquisition under
the Land and Water Conservation Act .
Jury List - Supervisor , Assessors and Clerk to meet July 14 , 8 P . M .
Highway Bills - Barber moved to pay Highway Bills #60 through #70
totalling $ 2 , 818 . 87 as listed on Warrant 7 . .
Seconded by Makie . 4 ayes , 0 noes , 1 absent .

General Fund Bills - Makarainen moved to pay General Fund Bills
#48 through #62 totalling $ 812 . 25 as listed on
Warrant 7 . Seconded by Makie . 4 ayes , 0 noes ,
1 absent , carried .
Makie moved to accept - the Supervisor ' s Report . Seconded by
Barber . 3 ayes , 0 noes , 1 absent , carried .
Motion to adjourn at 10 : 00 P . M .
