A Special Meeting of the Town of Enfield Town Board was held Thursday, August 19th,2004 at the Enfield Community Building, 182 Enfield Main Road, Ithaca, New York at 7:00 p.m. with Supervisor Fisher presiding. Present: Supervisor Gary Fisher, Town Councilperson Peggy Hubbell, Town Councilperson Larry Lanning, Town Councilperson Sandra Small and Town Clerk Alice Laue. Town Councilperson Greg Stevenson was absent. The proposed Enfield Community Council Contract for 2005, 2006, 2007 was reviewed and minor changes made. Consensus was to go with the 3 percent yearly increase. Need for a public hearing on the proposed Enfield Community Council contract for 2005, 2006, 2007 was discussed and a date and time was set. Motion made by Town Councilperson Hubbell, seconded by Town Councilperson Small that a public hearing on the proposed Enfield Community Council contract for 2005. 2006, 2007 be held Wednesday, September 8th, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Enfield Community Building. Discussion – Vote – Supervisor Fisher aye, Town Councilperson Hubbell aye, Town Councilperson Lanning aye, Town Councilperson Small aye. Town Councilperson Stevenson was absent. Motion carried. Resolution #51 Matt Furman’s Tires Mr. Furman contacted Supervisor Fisher and asked if the town could help him in disposing of the tires he has on his property. He is willing to pay any expenses that may occur. Supervisor Fisher contacted Nucor about taking these tire. Nucor will take the tires at a cost of $25.00 a ton. Town needs to have a written agreement with Mr. Furman. Resolution made by Supervisor Fisher, seconded by Town Councilperson Hubbell. WHEREAS accumulations of automobile and truck tires may contribute to the spread of West Nile Virus by providing mosquito breeding areas, and WHEREAS the elimination of old automobile and truck tires from the Town of Enfield will help deprive mosquitoes of artificial breeding areas, and WHEREAS the Town Board wished to facilitate the removal of the accumulation of old automobile and truck tires throughout the Town of Enfield, and WHEREAS Matt Furman has numerous tires that need to be disposed of, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the town board will contract with Nucor for $25.00 per ton to receive tires and further be it RESOLVED that the $25.00 per ton cost will be billed by the Town of Enfield to Matt Furman provided Matt Furman signs an agreement with the town that requires Matt Furman to pay the Town of Enfield a $25.00 per ton reimbursement and a $125.00 fee to cover town expenses. Matt Furman is responsible for all costs associated with the removal of tires from his property or in his possession including but not limited to loading and transportation. Discussion- Increase the town expenses to $125.00, need for the development of an agreement, attorney fees and associated costs. Vote- Supervisor Fisher aye, Town Councilperson Hubbell aye, Town Councilperson Lanning aye, Town Councilperson Small aye. Town Councilperson Stevenson was absent. Motion carried. Adjournment Motion made by Town Councilperson Hubbell, seconded by Town Councilperson Lanning that the Special Town Board meeting held August 19th, 2004 adjourn. Discussion Vote – Supervisor Fisher aye, Town Councilperson Hubbell aye, Town Councilperson Lanning aye, Town Councilperson Small aye. Town Councilperson Stevenson was absent.
