HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-Nov-7-2012This is a brief report on the initial meeting of a group interested in helping write the section on
Agriculture, Land Use, and Recreational Assets of Enfield's new Comprehensive Plan.
Present at this meeting of the Planning Board 11/7/2012 were Calvin Rothermich, Ann
Rothermich, Dawn George, Art Godin and Laurie Roe. Missing were Debbie Teeter, Sharon
Clarke, Matt LaRoux, Charlie Elrod and Jeb Mead. The group was tasked to designate a note
taker and chairperson and to plan a future meeting before the next Planning Board meeting on
12/5/12. Art Godin agreed to be note taker. No chair was selected. The group present decided
to use email to develop initial language for the Agriculture and Land Use section of Enfield's
Comprehensive Plan.
The group favored eliminating "Recreational Assets" from its areas of focus, thinking that this
topic would fit better into the "Environment, Natural Resources, Land Use & Aquifer" group's
purview. We had a general conversation about the difficulty of farming.
NEXT STEPS- Individual members of the group to review the Agriculture section of Enfield's
2001 Comprehensive Plan, as well as other Town Plans if they wish, and propose language for
the Agriculture section of the new Comprehensive Plan, working individually or in collaboration
with others. After following this mode for a week or two, the group may consider scheduling a
meeting for some face-to-face exchange of ideas.
