BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PROCEEDINGS
CITY OF ITHACA, NEW YORK
Special Meeting 6:00 p.m. June 27, 2005

Traffic Calming Bid – Power to Act
By Commissioner Romanoff; seconded by Commissioner Jenkins.
WHEREAS, the City of Ithaca received bids for the installation of traffic calming
measures on Buffalo and Court Streets on June 14, 2005, and
WHEREAS, this is the third time this work has been out for bid reflecting the
community’s strong desire to have this work done, and the City’s effort to fit the work
inside the existing budget, and
WHEREAS, the current funds available are approximately $250,000 in Capital Project
384 and $75,000 in IURA funds, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works awards the bid to the low and only bidder,
Economy Paving of Cortland, New York, for work to cover the Base Bid and Alternate
One in the amount of $230,359, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Board directs staff to work with the contractor to consider changes
and value engineering proposals which may allow the second alternate to be built for a
project cost which can be met with available funds.

Award of Bid to Purchase Real Time Total Phosphorus Analyzer
By Commissioner Schlather; seconded by Commissioner Jenkins
WHEREAS, bids were received on June 15, 2005, for the purchase of one (1) new and
unused online, real-time total phosphorus analyzer per specifications, for use in the
IAWWTP to meet regulatory compliance requirements, and
WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the specifications of all the submissions; now therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works accepts the bid from WTW Measurement
Systems, 1735 Brantley Road, #703, Fort Myers, FL 33907-3916, at the bid price of
$23,157 for their Model Tres-Con Systematic online analysis, and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the funds for this equipment were budgeted and encumbered in the
2005 budget, and, be it further,
RESOLVED, that the Assistant Superintendent for Water and Sewer be authorized to
enter into the agreement for this purchase.
