Award of bid for Cecil A. Malone Drive Pedestrian Bridge over Flood Control Channel - Resolution Moved by Commissioner Chapman: Seconded by Commissioner Jenkins WHEREAS, the bids were received on August 20, 2004 for Cecil A. Malone Drive Pedestrian bridge over the flood control channel, and WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the bids and found that the low bidder does not meet specifications, therefore does not qualify; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby awards the bid for the Cecil A. Malone Drive Pedestrian bridge over the flood control channel to Steadfast Bridge Co., 4021 Gault Avenue S, Ft. Payne, Alabama 35967, for their bid of $83,526.00 that meets specification, and be it further RESOLVED, That the board authorizes the Superintendent of Public Works to enter into an agreement with Steadfast Bridge Co. with the usual terms and conditions. Discussion followed concerning the low bidder not meeting specifications. Supt. Gray explained that the low bidder is required to be AISC Major Steel Bridge Certified and they are not. Comm. Romanoff questioned if in the future the vehicular bridge is widened and accommodates pedestrians, will this bridge be able to be moved and utilized elsewhere? Supt. Gray noted that it could be moved. A vote on the Resolution resulted as follows: Carried Unanimously ADJOURNMENT: On a motion the meeting adjourned at 12:25 p.m. _________________________________ ___________________________ Donna L.
