HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-BPW-2003-06-19 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PROCEEDINGS CITY OF ITHACA, NEW YORK Special Meeting 5:00 p.m. June 19, 2003 PRESENT: Acting Mayor Pryor Commissioners (4) - Beach, Gutenberger, Jenkins, Tsegaye OTHERS PRESENT: Administrative Secretary - Payne Superintendent of Public Works - Gray EXCUSED: Mayor Cohen Commissioners Leonardo and Dotson PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Acting Mayor Pryor led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: 2.1 Award of Contract for South Meadow Street Bridge Widening Fabrication of Elastomeric Bearings (Type E.B) - Resolution By Commissioner Beach: Seconded by Commissioner Jenkins WHEREAS, Bids were received on June 17, 2003 for the fabrication of elastomeric bearings for the South Meadow Street bridge widening, and WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the bids and is recommending that the low bidder be awarded the project; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby awards the bid of fabrication of elastomeric bearings to Seismic Energy Products, L.P., 518 Progress Way, Ateno, Texas 75751 for their bid of $5,144.00, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Board authorizes the Superintendent of Public Works to enter into an agreement with Seismic Energy Products under the usual terms and conditions. Carried Unanimously 2.2 Award of Contract for Structural Steel for the South Meadow Street Bridge Widening Project - Resolution By Commissioner Gutenberger: Seconded by Commissioner Tsegaye WHEREAS, Bids were received on June 17, 2003 for the structure steel for the South Meadow Street bridge widening, and WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the bids and is recommending that the low bidder be awarded the project; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby awards the bid of structural steel for the South Meadow Street bridge widening to L.B. Foster, 3 Farm Lane, Georgetown, MA 01833 for their low bid of $49,951.20, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Board authorizes the Superintendent of Public Works to enter into an agreement with L.B. Foster under the usual terms and conditions. Amending Resolution: By Commissioner Gutenberger: Seconded by Commissioner Tsegaye RESOLVED, That the first Whereas Clause and the first Resolved Clause be amended to read as follows: “WHEREAS, Bids were received on June 17, 2003 for the structural steel which can be used for the South Meadow Street bridge widening, and 2 “RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby awards the bid of structural steel to L.B. Foster, 3 Farm Lane, Georgetown, MA 01833 for their low bid of $49,951.20, and be it further” Carried Unanimously Main Motion as Amended A vote on the Main Motion as Amended resulted as follows: Carried Unanimously ADJOURNMENT On a motion the Board adjourned at 5:05 p.m. Donna Payne Patricia Pryor Administrative Secretary Acting Mayor
