HIGHWAYS, STREETS, SIDEWALK: Cross Walk Request at East State and Quarry By: Mayor Cohen: Seconded by Commissioner Beach RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby authorizes the installation of bricked crosswalks at the intersection of East State and Quarry Street. A vote resulted as follows: Ayes (2) Cohen, Beach Nays (4) Gutenberger, Leonardo, Tsegaye, Jenkins Motion Fails CREEKS, BRIDGES AND PARKS: Award of Bid for North Cayuga Street Bridge over Fall Creek By Commissioner Gutenberger: Seconded by Commissioner Beach WHEREAS, staff received bids on June 18, 2002 for the reconstruction of the North Cayuga Street Bridge over Fall Creek, and WHEREAS, staff reviewed the one bid received from Vector Construction and recommends awarding them the bid; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Board of Public Works hereby awards the bid for the reconstruction of the North Cayuga Street bridge over Fall Creek to Vector Construction, 6364 Island Rd., Cicero, New York 13039 for their base bid of $846,747 with the alternate of a temporary pedestrian bridge at an additional cost of $67,000 for a total bid of $913,747.40, provided the Superintendent can confirm that the temporary pedestrian bridge is an authorized cost based on Common Council's resolution for the expenditure passed June 2002, and be it further RESOLVED, That the award is for the base bid if the expense for the temporary pedestrian bridge can not be confirmed, and be it further RESOLVED, That Superintendent of Public Works be authorized to enter into an agreement with Vector Construction with the usual terms and conditions, and be it further RESOLVED, That the funds for this project will be obtained from Capital Project 382 and that this project is entered into with the understanding that the city's final cost will be approximately 5% of the final eligible costs plus the full costs of betterments for increasing the size of a water main and Board of Public Works – June 19, 2002 - Page 2 providing a temporary pedestrian bridge currently estimated at ($41,500.00 + $16,747.40 + $67,000 =) $125,24740. Carried Unanimously PARKING AND TRAFFIC Power to Act – Street Closure for Fire Fighters Appreciation Day By Commissioner Gutenburger: Seconded by Commissioner Tsegaye WHEREAS, the Ithaca Downtown Partnership has requested that the board authorize the street closures of 100 West State Street and the 100 blocks of North and South Cayuga Streets for "Firefighters Appreciation Day" on Saturday, June 29, 2002; now therefore, be it REOLVED, That the Board of Public Works authorizes the street closures of the 100 block of West State Street along with the 100 blocks of North and South Cayuga Streets on Saturday, June 29, 2002.
