PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Cohen led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.
SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS:
2.1. A Public Hearing on the Proposed Disposition of Property by the Ithaca
Urban Renewal Agency for the “Cayuga Green” project.
Community Development Director Bohn explained the proposed lease agreement
between the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency and the Community Development
Properties Ithaca, Inc.
Resolution to Open Public Hearing
By Alderperson Whitmore: Seconded by Alderperson Pryor
RESOLVED, That the Public Hearing on the Proposed Disposition of Property by the
Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency for the “Cayuga Green” project be declared open.
Carried Unanimously
The following people addressed Common Council:
Joseph Wetmore, Town of Ithaca - design issues regarding the Cayuga Garage.
Joel Harlan, Town of Newfield - timeline of Cayuga Green construction.
Fay Gougakis, City of Ithaca - eminent domain issues.
Resolution to Close Public Hearing:
By Alderperson Hershey: Seconded by Alderperson Pryor
RESOLVED, That the Public Hearing on the Proposed Disposition of Property by the
Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency for the “Cayuga Green” project be declared closed.
Carried Unanimously
Discussion followed on the floor with Community Development Director Bohn reviewing
specific components of the proposed lease-back agreement.
Mayor Cohen explained that further project discussion will be held at a Committee of the
Whole meeting scheduled for May 28, 2003, and the proposed Resolutions will be
considered at the June 4, 2003 Common Council meeting.
Further discussion followed on the floor with Kevin McLaughlin of The National
Development Council reviewing the Cayuga Parking Garage project timeline and
potential financing options for the project.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
