Special Meeting 7:00 p.m. July 25, 2001
PRESENT:
Mayor Cohen
Alderpersons (7) Pryor, Manos, Sams, Farrell, Vaughan,

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Cohen led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance to
the American Flag.
SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS:
2.1 Motion to Enter into Executive Session
By Alderperson Hershey: Seconded by Alderperson Manos
RESOLVED, That Common Council enter into Executive Session
to discuss pending litigation.
Carried Unanimously
RECONVENE:
Common Council reconvened into Regular Session at 8:55 pm
with one formal action taken. Mayor Cohen stated that
Common Council voted to authorize the City Attorney to file
a Notice of Appeal of Judge Mulvey’s decision regarding the
Widewater’s case.
NEW BUSINESS:
City Clerk Conley Holcomb reported that due to the new
Tompkins County redistricting plan, the City needs to
establish several new sub-districts and polling locations
for them. She proposed the following polling locations:
1st Ward – Sub-districts 6 and 7 have been combined to vote
at Titus Towers I.
2nd Ward – No changes.
3rd Ward – Sub-district 4 to vote at Belle Sherman Annex.
4th Ward – Sub-district 4 to vote at Class of ’22 Hall.
5th Ward – Sub-district 5 to vote at Robert Purcell Union,
and Sub-district 6 to vote at Cornell Cooperative Extension.
She stated that these polling locations need to be
designated by August 1, 2001 so the Tompkins County Board of
Elections can notify registered voters of the changes.
City Clerk Conley Holcomb further reported that the City
Clerk’s Office is renting four additional voting machines to
facilitate this change.
