Special Meeting 7:15 P.M. August 26, 1998
PRESENT:
Mayor Cohen

OTHERS PRESENT:

Deputy Police Chief - Barnes
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Cohen led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance to
the American flag.
SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS:
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
By Alderperson Manos: Seconded by Alderperson Shenk
RESOLVED, That Common Council adjourn into Executive Session
to discuss the retirement of a City employee.
Carried Unanimously
Mayor Cohen explained that Common Council is seeking legal
advice from the City Attorney which falls under
Attorney/Client privilege.
RECONVENE:
Common Council reconvened into regular session and
considered the following resolution:
Resolution
By Mayor Cohen: Seconded by Alderperson Shenk
RESOLVED, That Common Council approves the terms of a
Stipulation and Agreement between the City of Ithaca, the
Ithaca Police Benevolent Association, and Police Captain
John C. Betts pertaining to the retirement of Captain Betts.
The Mayor is authorized to execute the agreement on behalf
of the City.

Discussion followed on the floor regarding the Draft memo
from Common Council to City employees regarding workplace
environments.

On a motion the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
