Special Meeting 5:30 P.M. August 24, 1998

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Acting Mayor Sams led all present in the Pledge of
Allegiance to the American flag.
SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS:
Workforce Environment Task Force
Alderperson Manos distributed a memo that will be
distributed to City staff from Common Council regarding the
creation of a Task Force to address the quality of worklife
for City employees.
Discussion followed on the floor regarding the need for
city-wide policies regarding harassment and intimidation in
the workplace.
Human Resource Director Michell-Nunn explained several
methods of collecting and analysing data and formulating
policies around them.
The intent of the distribution of this memo is to show that
there is political resolve behind the administrative
functions of the new Human Resources Department.
It was stressed that the creation of this task force is the
result of a culmination of a long process, not a reaction to
any individual incident.
Human Resources Director Michell-Nunn was asked to re-write
the draft memo for consideration at the Wednesday, August,
26, 1998 Special Common Council meeting.

On a motion the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
