By Alderperson Booth: Seconded by Alderperson Johnson
WHEREAS, Capital Project #288, Fiber-Optic Communication Network
System was established in the amount of $130,000 to provide for
the installation and connection of a fiber-optic communication
network system between the Central Fire Station, City Hall, and
the Police Department, and
WHEREAS, bids received on July 20, 1994 for portion A of said
project (i.e. that portion involving the installation of conduit)
exceeded the amount budgeted by approximately $40,000, and
WHEREAS, an alternate (Alternate 1), which would extend a conduit
to the Mental Health Facility, and provide for several future
cooperative networking options with the County would add an
additional $15,000 to said project, which amount could
potentially be recovered by means of a future contractual
agreement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That Capital Project #288 Fiber-Optic Communication
Network System be hereby increased by $55,000 to a maximum
authorization of $185,000, and be it further
RESOLVED, That the financing for said amendment shall be derived
from the issuance of serial bonds, and be it further
RESOLVED, That the bid for portion A of said project be awarded
to Economy Paving, Inc., inclusive of Alternate 1 in accordance
with contingent action of the Board of Public Works taken at its

City Controller Cafferillo explained the project and answered
questions from Council members. Alderperson Booth noted that the
bid was only for the installation of conduit, not the entire
project.
