May 25, 1988 Special Meeting PRESENT: Mayor Gutenberger LO Alderpersons (9) - Booth, Cummings, Johnson, Nichols, Hoffman, Lytel, Killeen, Romanowski, Iq Schlather LD OTHERS PRESENT: Aes4,r : A&A56 � City Attorney - Nash M Planning and Development Director - Van Cort Q Chairman of the Conservation Advisory Council - Darlington Betsy Darlington, Chairman of the Conservation Advisory Council addressed Common Council regarding the offer for purchase of a 44 acre tract of property in the Town of Ithaca adjoining Six Mile Creek and the City's drinking water reservoir. She indicated that the property was for sale for a total of $55,000.00, which included 300 feet of road frontage on Coddington Road. The location of the property is 685 -687 Coddington Road and it is owned by George Maylin and Charlotte Brahm. Chairman Darlington reviewed the importance of this area for maintaining the City's water supply and the significant natural resources located on the property. Director Van Cort indicated the City's long- standing interest in these watershed areas and the current ownership by the City of property in this area. Chairman Darlington also indicated that the property had been on the market for awhile and that there were possibly other offers on the property. Alderman Booth made a motion that the City, through the Mayor and the City Attorney, make a purchase offer on the property, through the listing broker, for the asking price of $55,000.00 contingent on verifying the value of the property and completing necessary municipal approvals for actual purchase.
