SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS:
Mayor's Appointments
Commons Advisory Board
Mayor Bor onl requested approval of appointment of Mr. Jules Lichter,
f 7 Bean Hill Lane, Lansing, to the Commons Advisory Board for a term
Of office to expire December 31, 1981, to replace James Rothschild,
who resigned from the Board.
Resolution
By Al erman Boothroyd: Seconded by Alderman Banfield
RESOLVED, That the Council approves the appointment of Mr. Jules Lichter,
7 Bean Hill Lane, Lansing, to the Commons Advisory Board for a term of
(W1001 I office to expire December 31, 1981.
Carried Unanimously
Mr. Lichter took the oath of office and was sworn in by the City Clerk.
Capital Improvements Review Committee
Mayor Bordoni requeste approval of appointment of the foll.ol%,ing
persons to the Capital Improvements Review Committee for a term to
expire May 31, 1981: Common Council - John Gutenberger and Ethel
Nichols; Board of Public Works - Ken Walker and Jerry Schickel; the
Planning and Development Board - Franklin Moore and Peter Holmes.
Resolution
By Alterman Dennis: Seconded by Alderman Saccucci
RESOLVED, That the Council approves the appointment of the following
persons to the Capital Improvements Review Committee for a term to
expire May 31, 1981: Common Council - John Gutenberger and Ethel.
Nichols; Board of Public Works - Ken Walker and Jerry Schickel;
Planning and Development Board - Franklin Moore and Peter Ilolmes.
Carried Unanimously
Mr. Gutenberger, Mrs. Nichols, Mr. Schickel, Mr. Moore and Mr. Holmes
took the oath of office and were sworn in by the City Clerk,
Police Commissioner
Mayor Bor oni requested approval of appointment of Mrs. Irene
Schickel, 202 Sunrise Road, as Police Commissioner to fill the vacancy
created by the resignation of James Varicchio, for a term to expire
December 31, 1982.

RESOLVED, That the Council approves the appointment of Mrs. Irene
Schickel., 202 Sunrise Road, as Police Commissioner for a term to
expire December 31, 1982.

Board of Public Works Commissioner
Mayor Bor oni requeste approval of appointment of Mrs. Dorris Walsh,
329 Pleasant Street, to the Board of Public Works to fill the vacancy
created by the resignation of Mrs. Ruth Ditzell, for a term to expire
December 31, 1982.
Resolution
By Alderman Nichols: Seconded by Alderman Dennis
RESOLVED, That the Council approves the appointment of Mrs. Doris
Walsh, 329 Pleasant Street, to the Board of Public Works for a term
to expire December 31, 1982.
Carried Unanimously
Mrs. Walsh took the oath of office and was sworn in by the City Clerk.
Ithaca Landmarks Preservation Commission
Mayor Bordoni requested approval of appointment of Mr. Donald Lifton,
925 North Tioga Street, to the Ithaca Landmarks Preservation Commission,
to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Eugene Ross, for a
term to expire December 31, 1982.

By Alderman Nichols: Seconded by Alderman Banfield
RESOLVED, That the Council approves the appointment of Mr. Donald
Lifton, 925 North Tioga Street, to the Ithaca Landmarks Preservation
Commission for a term to expire December 313, 1982.

Purchasing Agent
Mayor Bor oni requested approval of appointment of Mr. John C. Clynes,
306 Elm Street, as Purchasing Agent in the City of Ithaca.
Resolution
By Al erman Gutenberger: Seconded by Alderman Saccucci
WHEREAS, the Common Council has heretofore established the office of
Purchasing Agent for the City of Ithaca by resolution, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council has deemed the appointment of said
Purchasing Agent to be a necessary and immediate need, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has heretofore appointed a committee of Common
Council to search for potential candidates for such office and make
recommendations to the Mayor, and
WHEREAS, the said committee has performed its function admirably and
the Mayor has given due and careful consideration to the matter, and.
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that additional City Charter and /or City
Ordinances may be passed in the future relating to said office, which
among other things will require Common Council approval of the Mayor's
appointment to said office;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That this Common Council. does hereby
approve the provisional appointment of John C. Clynes to an indefinite
term to the office of Purchasing Agent commencing September 15, 1980,
subject to the provisions of the Civil Service Law, and
BE I'I' FUR'T'HER RESOLVED, That the starting salary of John C. Clynes in
the office of Purchasing Agent be fixed at $20,560, commencing
September 15, 1980. Carried Unanimously

OLD BUSINESS:
Zoning
Alderman Slattery announced that for those aldermen who did not yet

have copies of the final draft of the Proposed Special Use Zone on
Tioga Street, there were copies available to them.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion the meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
