Fair- In behalf of the Special Committee appointed at the grounds. preceding meeting to secure 11r. McCormick's best offer, Alderman 11yers reported the Committee 17as satisfied with the offer of $21,000 as a fair and just one and that they recommended that the City purchase the Fairgrounds at that price. By Alderman Myers: seconded by Alderman Sammons: RESOLVED: that the Common Council hereby approves the purchase of the Fairground property at a cost of $21,000 and recommends to the Board of Public storks that they likewise approve such purchase. Ayes---Sammons,Gill,Causer,hers,Comfort,Campbell, Townsend,Hoffman Nays--0 Absent--Lowe,Rogalsky. Notion carried. Appoint The mayor announced the following appointments: rients. Leslie Be Townsend, as Chairman of the Common Council_ Comnittee, Relations with the Board of Public Works, to fill vacancy caused by the death of James A. Causer, Deceased. .Joseph Be Myers, as member of the Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Janes A. Cause de craaadd J. Joseph Driscoll, as member of the Board of Zoning Appeals, to fill the unexpired terra of James A. Causer, deceased. On notion of Alderman Campbell these appointrsent s were approved. At this time Alderman Lowe took his seat. Civil The Mayor read a communication from officers of War the Sons of Union Veterans, Local Camp #40 wherein Veterans they expressed appreciation for the aid and service rendered by the City on Memorial Day. Univer- Mayor Bergholtz reported that since the original city agreement for the exchange of lands with the land University had been settled, an error had been found in computing the acreage of the parcel #hit,$ the City agreed to convey, and because the acreage was found to be somewhat less, the University desires the City to deed them an additional strip of land of about 14-2 acres adjoining their parcel on the west with a frontage of about 500 feet r_zore along the Inlet. He recormiended that this additional cviount be granted and stated that the Stewart Park Corziission had approved. By Alderman Gill: seconded by Alderman Sani:ons: WHEREAS, it appearing for the best interests of the City that the proposed exchange of lands with the University should be sftrqa9XaatQ ,now therefore, RESOLVED; that the Corr-ion Council hereby approves such transfer and refers the natter to the Board of Public Works pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter. By Alderman Campbell: seconded by Alderman 11yers: BE IT ENACTED by the Comrmon Council of the City of Ithaca as follows: Section 1. Section 46 of the Ithaca City Charter, being Chapter 503 of the Laws of 1905 as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "S 46. The Condon Council is hereby given authority to borrow at any time between January first and July first for a period not extending beyond September first of the same year, in anticipation of monies to be raised in and by the city tax levy for such year and for the purposes for which such taxes are levied, and the aziount so borrowed shall not be in excess of the amount of such levy. 11 Section 2.
