COMMON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS ADJOURNED REGULAR HEFTING JUNE 12, 1933 PRESyNT--Herman Bergholtz, Mayor Aldermen--Sammons,Gill,Causer,Lowe,l yers, Comfort, Campbell,Townsend,Hoffman,Rogal sky City Attorney--Treman City Engineer--Eustance Asst. if --Marble City Chamberlain--Snyder On June 7th, the date. for the regular meeting, the Mayor and other officials were out of the City attending the Mayor's Conference. There being no quorum, the meeting was adjourned to this date. Minutes of the * day.-- meeting were duly approved. Air 11r. Robinson submitted samples of the Air Maps which daps he had proposed to sell to the City and the purchase of these Maps was again discussed. No action was taken except to agree that they might be reconsidered if and when the Board of Public Works made a definite request for an appropriation to purchase. Assess- The attached communication from the Assessor reco;m-nend- ments ing certain expungements from ,current Tax Roll in the Expunged amount of $10.95 was received and read. By Alderman Uyers: seconded by Alderman Comfort RESOLVED: that the recommendation of the Assessor be approved and $10�.�95 be and the sane 11;&ereby ordered cArecrecl r expunged from the 1933 City Tax Roll, 101.0•60 Carried. On motion of Al der:aan .yer s, the request from the Com_littee on Taxation and Financial Proble=,; of the City of Hilwaukee to pass a resolution memorializing Congress to advocate the issuance of National Currency to municipalities on the pledge of their bonds was laid on the table. Work It was pointed out that part of the work recently Relief authorized to improve the Stewart Avenue Bridge over Fall Creek, and the replacement of pumps at the Buffalo-- Headow Sewer Station might be undertaken as work projects. By Alderman Fryers: seconded by Alderman Causer; RESOLVED; that $3., 500 be and the same is hereby appropriated to the Work Relief account for work relief on the Steuart Avenue Bridge job. Carried By Alderman Sa::r-ions; seconded by Alderman Hoffman: RESOLVED; that $3, 500 be and the same is hereby appropriated to the Work Relief account for work relief on the Buffalo-Meadow pump station job. Carried Road The matter of erecting a combination speed and Signs welcome sign at each entrance to the :City was discussed and the Engineer agreed to submit a design for such sign at a future neeting, Local The Alderman discussed a proposed amendment to Law Sec.46 of the City Charter with respect to authorizing the City to borrow for current expenses in anticipation of tax collections in accordance with the provisions of the City Home Rule Law. No action was taken. Daylight By Alderman Causer: seconded by Alderman Townsend: Saving RESOLVED: that the City of Ithaca adopt "daylight saving" during the summer while the schools are closed. Ayes---Causer, Townsend,Rogalsky Nays--Gill, Lowe,Myers, Coi:lfort,Campbell,Hoffria.n Alderman Saruions, not voting. Ayes--3 Nays--6 Hotion lost. Audit By Alderman Causer: seconded by Alderman 11yers: RESOLVED: that the bills audited and approved by the Finance Committee be and the same arc hereby approved for payment. Carried. Mork Hayor Bergholtz reported that in a, week or two Relief the fork Relief projects on the State College Campus would be completed, that he felt it was essential to continue to provide work for the unemployed, that a preliminary list of new work projects had been prepared with the idea of furnishing work until such time as a major program could be undertaken with the assistance of Federal Aid under the National. Recovery Act, and that he mould submit such projects first to the Board of Public Forks. He, therefore suggested that the meeting be adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor so that the Aldermen night act promptly on whatever program the Board of Public Works might submit. Lane, representing -barest Llagazine Publications Ordinance requested a change in the present ordinance which requires a fee of w1.00 for a Police Permit to solicit from door to door. Attorney Treman admitted the legality of such a fee, was an open question and many complaints from large publishers had been made, nevertheless he showed where a great many well known publishing houses had secured such permits and paid the required fee.
