Projects The list of Work Projects, as approved by the Board
Of Public Works at their meeting of -June 22nd was
presented by Mayor Bergholtz who urged that these
necessary public improvements be approved so that they
might be forwarded for approval to the Temporary
Emergency Relief Administration.
The mayor recommended that the Council provide-.
funds for sanitary sewer work in connection with the
State Hospital project and suggested that additional
work might be authorized later on,as funds were
available.

RESOLVED: that the entire list of projects as
approved by the -Board of Public forks be approved and
recom iended to the Temporary Emergency Relief
Administration for their approval.

By Alderman Gill: seconded by Alderman Hoffman:
RESOLVED: that $13,800 be and-the sane is hereby
appropriated from surplus in the Improvement Fund to
cover the cost of sanitary sewer work in connection
with the State Hospital project In accordance
with the schedule submitted; additional
appropriations for the balance of the projects be be
made as and ashen additional funds are available.

The Mayor reported that the Trustees of the
Cornell Library have offered the City the use of the
first floor of the Library building in its present
condition without alteration free of rent for one year.
The offer was discussed at some length and
on motion of Alderman Dyers it was unanimously carried
that the Trustees be thanked for their offer and
informed that the City would wake use of the building
if possible.
Charity
Dept. The Mayor called attention to the exceedingly large
amount expended by the Charity Department for medical
and hospital services during tho first five months of
the year pointing out that about 75% of the 12 month' s
appropriation to this Department had already been
expended and that these two items were the ones that
were tray out of proportion to the estimated expenses.
The advisability of securing a City Physician was
thoroughly discussed.

WHEREAS during the first five months of this year
the City ' s nedical and hospital expenses have absorbed
a largo percentage of the Charity Depaxtnent Budj et,
NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED: that the : ayor appoint a
Special Co:m_:ittee to investigate and report on the
advisability of appointing one or more Doctors to act
as City Physician and Surgeon to Care for the welfare
pd,tients, except perhaps emergency cases.

RESOLVED: that the City Attorney & Charter Comwittc
be requested to prepare an amendment to the City Chart
to provide for the nppointmont of a City Physician &
Surgeon in accordance with the 7elfare La7; the salary
or compensation to be fixed by the CoDnon Council.
