Celebra- The Mayor announced that he had called the meeting
tion. to consider the request of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for
an appropriation to be used in connection with the usual
celebration of Independence Day.
He reported that their first request was for $500 but
that they had since asked for an additional. $500 so that
there would be sufficient funds for a barbacue at Slewart
Park as well as the usual fireworks displayq
Alderman Gill stated that in these hard times they
should be glad to get even -$500 from the City which with a {
similar appropriation by the Supervisors would mean an $800
contribution frora the City taxpayers.After further
discussion it was moved,
By Alderman Gill: seconded by Alderman Campbell:
RESOLVED: that $500 be and the same is hereby
appropriated from surplus funds to defray expenses in connec-
tion with the Fourth of July Celebration.
