She outlined a modern i)ro: ram for relief and showed the 'necessity for a trained worker in the Welfare Department, particularly to conserve and wisely distribute the public funds. • The Mayor agreed and recommended that such a trained worker be employed, pointing out that the City would—thereby be in line for the 11 return from the State, as well as improving con— ditions in the Charity Department. He stated that he had interviewed some persons for this position while in New York and was favorably impressed by one applicant who would accept the position at $2,11.00 per year although sL 1L _. be ,n :offing 0-1000 for similar work. - The i:ia.yor also reported that it was practically assured that the Administration would „ay tl,e entire salary of this Investigator if the City' ivbuld- fu±nibh her a.• Stenographer and transportation for her investiga- tions. ji By Alderman Gill: seconded by Alderman Causer: RESOLVED: that this matter be referred to the Charity Committee for investigation and with power to tape whatever action in the matter they may dei de upon. Mr. Sherman Peer appeared before the j' Common Council as Attorney for Mrs. Titchenor jik223 Thurston Avenue and requested that this ji property be changed from "A" to a "3" Zone in order to permit the erection of an Apartment { House. He explained that although this property had been on the market for some time Mrs. Titchenor had been unable to dispose of it except in this manner. He displayed an Architect 's sketch of the proposed building and stated that practically all of the nearby residents had given consent to the building and that even the- people on the Heights who had opposed. '_r. Miles Apartment were not opposed to this construction. By Alderman Sammons: seconded by Aid. Camapbell: RESOLVED: that this request be referred, in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, to the Planning Com :lissi on for •recomaendatilon and report. Carried. By Alderman Causer: seconded by Alderman Sammons: RESOLVED: that the damage claims of Ferdinand Dilger and of William A. Price be and the same are hereby both iI rejected. • O:C-1±h ihUi: Attorney Treman cited various short comings in the present City Ordinances with reppect to covering the parking of cars and canvasing of selling goods .on private • property, and recornneded changes to adequately cover these nuisances by amending the present ordinances.
