Minutes of the preceding meeting were duly
approved.
I.Ir. Sherman Peer, as Attorney for err. H.V. Miles,
requested permission for ?:-r. Tiles to remodel his
house at Highland Avenue and Heights Court, in an
"All residence district, into an Apartment -House,
with 5 apartments.
Mr. %;files explained his position in the
matter and apologized for having started the
work without a proper permit.
The petitioners requested that the matter be
referred to the Planning; .Coralaission for report
in accordance with the Ordinance, but explained
that it was i xiaterial from their vier, point as to
what particular section of the Ordinances the
Perriit might be granted.

in the Corr.non Council by Art. 2a, General City Law and
Sec.; Chap. 1 of the City Ordinances, the Common Council
hereby authorizes the issuance of obligations of the
City of Ithaca in the sum of $41,720 for the express
purpose of resurfacing various streets as setforth in
the above schedule, it beinL expressly understood that
sai6 bonds will be in addition to and part of Series "H"
Improvement Bonds, part of which issue has already been
authorized ; this amount bringing the grand total
autiaori zed to $186, 623-

Aide-Trien, that he had called, as a Special Cora-,Attee of the

which reman gave the City. He stated that Treman
graciously consented to waive the restriction requiring

was to receive a report of the Planning Com-

Attorney Peer spoke for the petitionSr
confining, his remarks to refuting ar_-_�z:aents

mission meeting. In conclusion he submitted a
petition or resolution signed by six property
ovners near the property in q-iestion, requestinF,

!Ir. Fred Rogalsky on behalf of the Housing
Cor:, -dttee of the Chamber of Cora--rerce reco�n:^_fended
that the request be granted; and also reco:.i.iended
t at the Council consider this problem as
'affecting the entire City pointing out that this
condition has arisen anal wouln. continue to arise
in various other Sections about the City.

property, but the entire Heights be, mace a "B"
residence district.

confidence in the Zone Ordinance.
Profes.:or Switzer, representing the
Bryant Pcrk Association also op--)osen the request,
pointing out that hil e this individual case did
not directly concern the people in Bryant Park,
neveyrthele ,; they felt grave concern over the
indirect result of approving the request because
such action, they felt woula; jeopardize the
whole Zone Orcdnance.
Alderman Roalsky stated that as one of
the representatives of tl:e people in the district
concernec;_, he felt duty bound to vote as a
majority of leis constituents felt. I3e saic" he
v;as c::;nvinced from the action of the Cornell
-.eights Association and other indications that
the majority o the people on the Heights ,,ere
o-n-?osed to t-he request, and he,therefore moved,
that the sentiment expressed by -he Cornell
Heights Association be sii.stained and the
request denied. There was no second, to this
