from the City Storage Yards and other property, not
exceeding $350.00.
To make emergency repairs on the Stewart Avenue
Bridge, over Casdadilla Creek, to prevent the
possibility of a serious accident 48,000.00.
To install concrete pavement in Wyckoff Avenue,
as ,well as curb and gutter, pursuant to petitions of
adjoining property owners, and because of the amount of
traffic thereon, and instead of merely improving with
gravel, and in view of the removal of the trolley tracks
from said street, not exceeding $11,200.00.
For installing storm sewers in Giles and
Hudson Streets because of the new pavemerit,not
exceeding $4,500.00.
For paving extras - not exceeding $3,000. for
engineering and inspection services in connection with
the improvements under said Bond Issue, not
exceeding $3,000.00.
For water and sewer services necessitated by
the new paving, not exceeding $1,000.00.

Conference
Rochster Chief Marshall reported on his attendance at the
annual Police Convention in Rochester, stating that the
"KEYNOTE" of the meeting was Courtesy to the Public
and that mush good was accomplished during the Conference
and he thanked the Mayor and Common Council for permitting
him, to represent the City.
t Alderman Causer stated that in his business he was
in a, particularly advantageous position to hear comments
from the travelling public and visitors as to the City,
and that he wished to publicly commend and complement
the Chief and his Department on their courteous and kind
treatment to the Public, especially to visitors -and
guests from out of Town.

R7SOLVED: that the audit approved by the Finance
Cop-littee is hereby approved and payment of bills directed.

COMMON COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 3,1930.
Present---Mayor Herman Bergholtz
Aldermen---Causer,Gill,Rogalsky,Atkinson,
Hoffman,Lowe.
Chamberlain.-Snyder
Commissioner of Charities--Green.
Minutes of the preceding meeting were
read and approved.
The Mayor announced and read the resignation
of Alderman Morrison due to his removing
from the Fourth Ward. .
At the suggestion of the Mayor, the
Finance Committee was requested to. draft
suitable resolution on receiving this
resignation.
The Mayor then announced that it was the
duty of the Council to appoint a successor,
and recommended that John W. Hines who ran
against Mr. Morrison at the last eledtion be
Stover given this appointment.
Dominated Alderman Causer then placed the name of
John W. Hines in nomination, tand Alderman
Atkinson then nominated A.B.Stover. There
being no further nominations, a ballot was
taken which gave 3 for Hines and 3 for Stover.
The Mayor cast the deciding vote for Hines.
By Alderman Atkinson: seconded- by. Alderman Causer:
Hines, RESOLVED: that Johh W. Hines be and he is
Alderman hereby appointed Alderman from. t 7 Fourth Ward
dkhted until the next regular election� o fill the
vacancy caused by the resignation of
William Morrison.
Carried.
The Mayor announced that he would
appoint Alderman Hines to the Finance Committee
and Committee On Relations with the Board of
Public Works and designated Alderman. Causer
as Chairman of the Finance, Committee.
Parkin
Damage A communication was received from
Claim L. Parkin, #215 King Street submitting a bill
of expense caused by his wife falling down on
an icy sidewalk at Tompkins & Aurora Street
last January.
The claim was referred to the City
Attorney who ruled that the same was barred
due to not being properly filed.
Wallenbeck
Damage The Clerk presented a verified claim
Claim for damages filed by Joel H. Wallenbeck and
reported that the Board of Public Works had
considered the claim and recommemded that the
same be rejected.
By Alderman Gill: seconded by Alderman Causer:
RESOLVED: that the damage claim of
Joel H. Wallenbeck be and the same is hereby
rejected.
Carried.
Lucas
Damage Claim Attorney Treman reported. that he had taken
up with the Board of Public Works the claim
for damages filed by Peter Lucas and that
the Board recommended that the claim be
rejected.
By Alderman Causer: seconded by Alderman Rogalsky:
RESOLVED: that the Lucas claim be and
the same is hereby rejected.
Carried.
Reporting further Attorney Treman stated that he
was preparing an amendment to the Charter by local law
in relation to the procedure in connection with
tax sales and would present the same to the Common
Council at their next meeting.
Mayor Bergholtz called the attention of the
Council to their obligation to furnish funds for the
administration of the new Old Age Relief Law by the
Coinmissioner of Charities, end recom ended that an
appropriation of $500 be made at this time to defray
the expenses of extra. help and' supplies needed in the
administration of this law pointing out that there-was a
great amount of detail work, investigations, reports and
administrative work in connection with carrying out the
provisions of the law, and also pointing out that whatever
expenses the City incurred, the State would pay ha=lf of it.
The Clerk then read extracts from the law relative to
it's administration.
Old Age By' Alderman Causer: seconded by Alderman Hoffman:
Relief RESOLVED:that the recommendation of the' Mayor be
approved and $500 be and the same is hereby appropriated
for the uses of the Commission of Charities in administering
the Public Welfare Law with relation to Old. Age Relief.
Transfer of
Accounts The Mayor reported on the request of the Board
of- Public Works as follows :
"RESOLVED: that the Board of Public Works
request the Common Council to authorize the
transfer, within the IMPROVEMENT FUND of $2,500,
from the surplus that has accrued to the account
'Resurfacing North Cayuga Street' to the account
'North Cayuga Street Bridge' , in order to take
care of the additional expense of building
new abut=ments which were not anticipated and
approaches which were not included in the
original estimate. '
By' Alderman Hoffman: seconded by Alderman Gill:
` RESOLVED: that the recommendation of the Mayor
and Board of Public Works be granted and that 02,500. be
and the same is hereby transferred from the North Cayuga
Street resurfacing account to the North Cayuga Street
Bridge account, in the Improvement Fund.
Carried.

RESOLVED: that the audit approved by the Finance
Committee be and the same is hereby approved and bills paid.
Carried.
