Minutes of the preceding- meeting were- read and
approved.
hr. Larkin appeared before the Council and requested.
that Stewart Avenue be placed in the program for
improvement in 1931.
A communication was received from Lucy B. Brew,
Secretary of the Ithaca Council of` Parents and Teachers
requesting, on behalf of that Organization that the
Mayor and the Common Council put the question of City
support and administration of the Cornell Memorial
' Library to a referendum of the voters.
Alderman lJorra.ucn, as Chnirmar_ of the' Special Corr,-
mi.ttee investigating this problem reported that a
Referendum should cover two questions;
1. Should the City issue bonds in a. sum of say
X150,000, to build a new building for the Cornell.
Libarbry Association ?
2. SM11 the Common Council donate $7,500. ar..t;ua.11y
for, the ma.intenan.ce and support of the Cornell :Iemorial
Library Association ?
Reporting; further Alderman Morrison stated thj.pt
before any action is taken by the Common Council,
however, the Committee recomr.ends that a thorough study
be made of this problem and. in this connection he cited
various pertinent questions th.a.t should have consideration.
He stated that the Committee desired to offer the
following resolution which was submitted b-T Alderman
Myers and unanimously carried.
RESOLVED: that the fiayor be requested to appoint
a Con,"Attee of Citizens, of" which the Mayor shall be a
member to investige:te the present condition of the
- Cornell Idemorial Library before a. Referendum is
authorized and report back at some future- meeting,
In connection with the- audit of bills, Alderman
iviorri son reported tae receipt of two statements from
Dr. Vose, one for 125.00 and. one for X100 for services
rendered January 2,1925 and January 11, 1927 respectively,
and the same were turned over- to the Clerk for investi-
gation.

RESOLVED: that the Common Council recommends it
to the Board of Public Works that the salary of the
City Superintendent be fixed at the rate of $3,600. 1
per year,and
RESOLVED further, that $20O.00 be and the same
is hereby added to the Budget and Requisitions of the
Board of Public Works under the item of salaries in
account114, Superintendent of Public Works and

The Mayor announced the particular purpose of
this meeting was to consider in detail the Budget
estimates and requisition of the Fire Commissioners
for the current year.
The Clerk then read each item as detailed on •
the original Budget and the same was either agreed
to unanimously or decided by vote as follows:

RESOLVED: that the items of $ 200 for extra
work for Department and $ 300 for extra labor fire
alarm be stricken out.

Alderman Myers questioned the consideration
of the original detailed Budget , claiming that the
Council should consider this Budget in its revised
form as required by the Uniform System of
Accounting.

RESOLVED: that the Council act on the
original detailed Budget as adopted and filed by
1 the Fire Commissioners, that on the completion
and approval of this Budget the same be rearranged
by the Clerk and Fire Chief to agree with the
Uniform System of Accounting.
