Regular Meeting
• June 9 , 1965
ATTENDANCE Messers Thayer , Dorn , Muzzy , Guether , Short , McKnight ,
Niederkorn , Brown and Mrs . Weitzel .
CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8 = 35 by Chairman
Thayer . The minutes of the May 12 meeting were read
and approved .
REPORTS Private Landing Strip R. The owner of the proposed
landing strip has promised to provide plans for the
strip but has not yet done so . Mr . McKnight checked
w ith the New York State Department of Aviation and
found that the department has no knowledge of the
proposed strip . Mr . Thayer will forward to McKnight
any plans for the strip when they are forthcoming
from Mr . George Nandemark .
Subdivision Regulations -. Mr . McKnight recommended
that copies of the regulations be made available at
the Town Clerk ' s office and mentioned that it is not
n ecessary to print the regulations in an official
newspaper . The motion was made by Mr . Short and seconde
e d by Mr . Dorn that the Town Board empower the Planning
Board to simultaneously , with the approval of a plat ,
. modify applicable provisions of the zoning ordi-
n ance subject to conditions set forth in. Section 28
o f the Town Law . This carried unanimously .
No reports were available on Jenning ° s Pond or the
Sanitary Land Fill .
Comments were received on the economic report sub-
mitted at the previous meeting . The Board members
agreed that the report was not startling or unusual
but contains basic facts about the economy of Danby .
Approved for the Final Report .
Mr . Niederkorn reported on conclusions and policy prow
posals of the Danby General Plan ( see attached copy ) .
Paragraphs 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 : 8 , 9 , 13 , and 14 were approve
ed as read . In regard to Paragraph 6 , Mr . Guether moved
and Mr . Dorn seconded t 'ha t frontage of 300 ft . would
be required when the �. ot is adjacent to a highway . If
it is an interior lot with a driveway , no frontage
w ill be required . In regard to Paragraph 77 the ade
✓ isibility of recommending to the State that a bypass
o f route 96B be made around the village of Danby was
discussed . Since this Construction would be in a pose
sible development area east of the present route 9613

it was felt that a placement of this new highway on
an official map would be detrimental to any building
in this area . It was left fo ' the Danby Planning Board
• to make a . decision as to when to place this new road
on the official map . It was moved. by Mr . Short and

seconded by Mr . Muzzy that a bypass be considered as
soon as practicable from east of the village of Danby '
and north to the Town Line , bypassing the congested
areas of present 96B . This motion was made for the
record so that future action may be taken by either the
Planning Board or the Town Board in requesting the
State officially to place this road on an official mapo
Carried . In regard to Paragraph 10 , the motion was made
by Mr . Short that the present site of the Town Hall adjam
cent to the Church and in the center of the village of
Danby together with the adjacent properties1would be
the proper place for as new community center for the
Town . Seconded by Mrs . Weitzel and carried unanimously .
The wording in Paragraph 11 was changed from `° 30040
years " to ' 50 years " . Some discussion arose regarding
Paragraph 12 ' s pro 'osal to have the Town contract for
refuse pickup . No conclusion was reached . In regard to
Paragraph 15 , Mr . Niederkorn pointed out the need for
further recreational areas in Danby that would be open
to the residents of the Town and proposed a new lake or I+A l ( I m-1(
pond area west of 96B and torth of Gasrmterrititar by Imo
pounding the waters of Buttermilk Falls Creek and eso
tablishing a sizable pond which would be valuable not
only to the Town of Danby but as impounded water for the
State Parks . Since this is on Mr . Muzzy ' s property , he
will work with Mr . Niederkorn on a site investigation of
?this area and report to a future board meeting of the
Planning Board .
ADJOURNED The meeting was adjourned at 10 : 20 .
