Dear Supervisor LaSalle:
We received your letter ending the Cortlandville Fire District providing emergency services to the
Town of Solon on October 111", 2022. Your notification mentions the required 90-day notification period
and pro -rated payment. The Cortlandville Fire District at its October District Meeting voted to end the
contract effective December 31", 2022, at midnight, 11 days short of the 90-day notice.
We feel that this will allow for the seamless transition of protecting your residents. It serves no
benefit to your residents, the members of either fire department or the Cortland County Department of
Emergency Response & Communications to have the Cortlandville Fire Department responding to alarms
for 11 days and then transition to the McGraw Fire Department. The Cortlandville Fire District has no
intention of looking for a pro -rated payment for eleven days and has no interest holding the Town of Solon
to the 90-day required notification requirement to separate services.
Please respond, in writing, to the Cortlandville Fire District receipt of this letter and that you will
have fire protection other than the Cortlandville Fire District in place January 11t, 2023 so that we may
adjust accordingly.
