HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-05-06 9 TOWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MINUTES May 6 , 1965 • The regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Danby was held at the Town Hall at 8 P . M . Thursday , May 6 , 1965 . Meeting called to order at 8 : 15 P . M . by Supervisor Ca' tright . Board members present : Supervisor James H . Cortright , Justices Moses Peter and Henry Makarainen , Councilmen Donald Barber and • Donald Makie . Also Zoning Officer Harry Hatfield , Assessor William Bergman and Harold Bernhardt and Fred Thayer . Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved as corrected . COMMUNICATIONS : 1 . Attorney Thaler to Supervisor re : Town of Danby vs . Bartholf . 2 . County Treasurer to Town re : Payment to County , 3 . Proclamation on Senior Citizen ' s Month . 4+ . Department of Public Works on " School Bus Station " signs . 5 . Department of Public Works ' answer to Mrs . Cole re : West Danby signs 6 . Finger Lakes State Parks Commission re : Content of Proposed License of Jennings Pond . PRIVILEGE OF FLOOR Peter reported the Community Council is planning another spring clean - up . Tentative date is June 19 . Asked for use of town trucks and will involve paid drivers . Danby Fire Department has -offered to supervise the burning of brush , etc . REPORTS OF COMMITTEES , Highway - None - Zoning - None Fire - Barber reported Fire Company is planning to keep 3 fire trucks presenting a housing problem . Cemetery - Makarainen reported highway men will start work on cemetery next to Town Barns . Insurance - None Youth - Barber reported plans are underway for a 5 -week summer program in conjunction with Ithaca School System . Five camp scholarships have been awarded within the Town . OLD BUSINESS Highway - Superintendent absent . Zoning - Hatfield reported the trailer on Coddington Road to moved by June 1st . Thaler has to have survey report from Miller on Autosalvage before reporting to Judge . George VandeMark wants to develop an air strip , advised to go to Planning Board Planning Board - Chairman Fred Thayer commented favorably on procedures listened to . He reported those who had contributed to survey taken by Cornell , brought out lack of enforcement • of zoning . Appeals Board - Chairman absent . Board of Assessors - Chairman Bergman reported assessment roll has been finalized and delivered to county assessor ' s office . He made two requests : each assessor have a copy of the zoning ordinance and the Zoning Officer to let Chairman of Assessors know when he issues a building permit giving , ', all necessary data . Town Hall Study - no report . Jennings Pond - Discussion on progress . 111) Coddington Road Youth Crroup - Supervisor met with group April 26 . They have asked if Town of Danby would give any financial assistance since 33 from Danby use the Center . Barber suggested obtaining names and addresses of those who actively support it . School Bus Station sign - make copy of letter received in communica - tions and send to each Mrs . Freccero and Mrs . Bryce . Town Paper - Makie reported not ready for printing . ■ NEW BUSINESS D iscussion on Peter ' s question from Harold Bernhardt on whether he could enforce traffic laws . Peter suggested Bernhardt approach Sherriff ' s Department to be deputized . There is not enough money in Item 3 of the Highway Fund account to pay outstanding bills resulting in Resolution #3 - Transfer of Fund . Motion made by Makie. seconded by Barber . 5 ayes , O noes , motion carried . B oard wants to set up a meeting to be held in August with the Highway Superintendent to review Item 3 of Highway expenditures . P eter moved to pay General Fund Bills #36 through #44 as listed on Warrant 5 totalling $331 . 22 . Seconded by Makie . 5 ayes , O noes , motion carried . B arber moved to pay Highway Fund Bills #44 through # 59 as listed on Warrant 5 totalling $ 2 , 612 . 02 . Seconded by Makarainen . 5 ayes , 0 noes , motion carried . Makie moved to accept the Supervisor ' s Report . Seconded by P eter . 4 ayes , O noes , motion carried . . Barber moved to adjourn the meeting at 11 : 30 P . M .
