TOWN OF DANBY
TOWN BOARD MINUTES
April 1 , 1965
The regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Danby
was held at the Town Hall at 8 P . M . Thursday , April 1 , 1965 .
Board members present : Supervisor Cortright , Justices Peter
and Makarainen , Councilmen Barber and Makie . Also Assessors
Charles _ Makarainen , William Bergman , and Highway Superintendent
Chaffee . -
• Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved .
COMMUNICATIONS
1 . Jr . Drum and Bugle Corp from New York - referred to Firemen .
2 . Conservation Department re : Fact Sheet on Land & Water
Conservation Fund Act .
3 . Evelyn Cole to Supervisor regarding lack of signs in West Danby .
. Cortright will notify district engineer .
4 . Letter from Yvonne Freccero re : School bus signs on 96B .
Letter from Lloyd A . Maeder , Chief Traffic Engineer .
5 . Society for the Genesee and The Lakes re : Tourist Information
Center .
6 . Communication from State Board of E ualization and Assessment .
Equalization rate established at 46 � .

Mr . Bergman commented on survey made on behalf of Community Council .
Also suggested report be made to taxpayers in form of a newsletter .
Makie reported on meeting with Joe Short re : Town Paper and plan
to encourage public participation .

H ighway - none
Zoning - Makie made suggestion that Community Council sponsor newsletter .
Fire - none
Insurance - none
Youth - Barber reported on dance held and committee for summer activity .
O LD BUSINESS
H ighway Superintendent Chaffee reported brush has been cut on
Erwin Projects . Crew has been working on repair of machinery .
Cortright reported vloader from Newfield is available .
Zoning Officer — absent .
Planning Board - absent . .
Appeals Board - absent .
B oard of Assessors - Chairman Bergman reported on Troy Road Junkyard .
P roperty on assessment roll as of August 1963 .
Taxes can be assessed retroactive for 1 year .
Also , no new buildings have been inspected or
no permits issued for remodeling jobs .
P roperty is not presently assessed as commercial
property . Discussion followed concerning
building permits and zoning enforcement .
B oard decided to meet in executive session to discuss zoning problems. .
Town Hall Study - Supervisor Cortright reported no records available
as to history of Town Hall .
Jennings Pond - Cost study underway .
Coddington Road Youth Group = Supervisor Cortright was unable to
make meeting . Next meeting April 26 .

NEW BUSINESS
Peter moved to allow Supervisor to buy new electric typewriter .
Seconded by Makie . 4 ayes , 0 noes , motion carried .
Society for the Genesee and the Lakes proposal declined .
Barber moved to combine Tax Collector job with that of Town Clerk .
Seconded by Peter . 5 ayes , 0 noes , motion carried .
Peter moved to pay Highway Bills #36 through #43 as listed on
Warrant 4 totalling $665 . 91 . Seconded by Barber . 5 ayes , [ f
0 noes , motion carried .
Makarainen moved to pay General Fund Bills #28 through #35 as
listed on Warrant 4 totalling $ 345 . 63 . Seconded by Makie .
5 ayes , 0 noes , motion carried .
Makarainen moved to accept the Supervisor ' s Report . Seconded
by Barber . 4 ayes , 0 noes , motion carried .
Barber moved to adjourn meeting at 11 : 00 P . M . Seconded by .
Makarainen .
