Finally',Lanny;Toyce, engir�eer,from TAke- Source Cooling., using basic physics formulas, teaching about R "value in insulation., dew-'-, point and vapor harriers, estimating local temps w/ the help of the kids; predicted thai.we, could have ice for up to 2 years and that at the end af.Itily there. shoilld he -more fhn;:1t1�o 11 of the ice fro -ten. Dr. fond is a retired animal science -professor W -ho raises a special breed of poled sheep and is also happy to share his `agricultaral'lu;a�vledge with our group. Had a hot Iunch in PerryCiLy. 1 1 kids, boysi'7 girls. ; • The Monday Makers crafting sessions on Mondays'3:30 til 6:30 .Goals"include: listening :. skills and following directions, group dynamics and cooperation, building confidence by; discovering creative talents, considering crafting as a career • Monday Makers -'Dee. • 12/4--11 kids 6 boys /5 girls- made.ornaments and presents from our repertoire • 12/11- 11 kids 5 boys/6-girls made wreaths and pomander balls • 12/18-11 kids 4 boys 17 girls baked -13 dozen cookies for the Dewitt teachers and all got to take some home for their families • 12/16 Ice House Construction-12k-lds 3 boys/ygirls (see top -of page and Journal article) • Other time consum-ers-Holidays. took R' days vacation_ produCed and mailed 120 ca)endan. producing monthly report for FCC meeting, planning future activities, shopping; for programs, CCETC meetings/ Dan meeting _meeting at Black Locust, emails /phonecalls to the Journal to . advertise_ program prep and cleanup transporting kirk_ phone calls to kids/parents. Writing - letters and permission forms, emailed to secure cabins at Arnot for a Feb_ overnight •Future Plans -see ?an. calendar. - . AND swimming/skating requests are coming in so l'11 try for some Saturdays in Feb .still need to work out sewing classes_ Saturdays are so filled in Feb already_ maybe during break or -afternoons ___Eco forestry kids will meet once a month (at least)- scheduling an Ethics talk w/ Carl Leopold and plan to take the kids to research Aldo Leopold before hand- hopefully-Feb/Ivlarch, have arranged an overnight at a lodge in Arnot (not for free -$10 per kid).- Row hunters safety course is scheduled to take place at 4 H Acres 1120& IJ27-advertising with fivers and in -the Journal Next community- trig to the Strong Children's Museum- is arranged for Dr. King's Holiday. R-4:30:.. I need to hook up w/ the 5`h grade teachers again about scheduling Johnson Art Museum wea,gingtrip-(they still aren't sure when they'll get to S. America),I am looking forward to being the community collaborator for a mini grant Mrs. Finnigan got, to create a clay tile neural -"Enfield Grows Together" -I will participate in school with the 3-'-5'h graders assisting Christine and the tile expert with the process. _ _ I have offered to hold -make up classes if needed- this is an- ongoing project (set.to:begin in Feb.) The teens will assist Steve Givin in grouting, framing and mounting the finished product..
