UPDATE FROM TOWN SUPERVISOR,KATELIN OLSON:
Greetings, Ulyssians!And Happy Arbor Day!
For the last several mornings, I've been awakened(in the 5:40am range,a bit earlier than I prefer) by what I have determined is a
Northern Cardinal. It has a call that is a highly effective alarm,although my teenagers are remarkably immune to it. (Or regular
alarms for that matter,but that's a different type of post!)
The bird activity that warm(er)weather inspires lots of other activities throughout Ulysses!
Today(Friday)there will be a tree planting at the Jacksonville Community Park at 5:30pm,along with a reading of a proclamation of
the Ulysses Arbor Day. Many thanks to the Ulysses Tree Committee for organizing the planting,and the Jacksonville Community
Association for supporting the planting at this wonderful park.
On Saturday,there will be a guided plant and bird walk through the Salo Habitat Preserve, rain or shine! Meet at the trailhead at
10am;the walk should take about 1 hour and cover.8 miles. More information is available here.
Sunday with be the inaugural Trumansburg Little League Opening Day Parade down Main Street,starting at Atlas Bowl and ending at
the school.Come out and celebrate the kids at gam!There will be a day full of baseball and softball games that the community is
invited to attend.(Bring a chair!)
Looking ahead on May 2 brings the Tru-Uly Earth Care Day at the Farmers' Market and the Jacksonville Community Association will
be hosting a clean-up day at the Jacksonville Community Park.
Finally,next Tuesday is our regular Town Board meeting,and the board packet is available here.As a reminder,the Town Board will
open a public hearing on May 12th regarding the draft comprehensive plan,and anticipates keeping it open through our following
meeting on May 26th.The draft plan is available here and comments can be emailed to the Town Clerk at
clerkC@townofulyssesnygov.
HALSEYVILLE RD CLOSURE-APRIL 30:
The Tompkins County Highway Department will be closing Halseyville Road in the Town of Ulysses, (between Perry City Road and
State Route 96)on Thursday,4/30,from 7am to 4pm for cross-culvert replacement.There will be a detour in place.

Not-for-profit agencies that provide services and/or programming in alignment with Tompkins County's interests in addressing
community needs are eligible to apply for funding.Agencies may apply for general operating support and/or program-specific
funding.
Specific priority needs include:
• nutrition and food security,
• housing stability,
• access to and use of prenatal care,
• workforce and access to employment,
• substance misuse and overdose,
• and chronic disease prevention.
The sources of this funding for community agencies are Tompkins County property and City of Ithaca sales taxes.The total amount of
available funding is determined during the development of the county budget. For 2026,community agencies received a total of
$1,587,699 in funding.
The application is online at: https://hsctc.orgLapplications.Applications are due on Thursday, May 21.Agencies may submit for early
review by May 14. More details are available in the application documentation.

ARBOR DAY ACTIVITIES:
Arbor Day Tree Planting:
The Ulysses Tree Advisory Council will hold a meeting at 5:30pm on Friday,April 24 at the Jacksonville Community Park,3037 Swamp
College Rd.,Trumansburg.The meeting will be followed by a reading of the Town Board Proclamation and a tree planting.
Guided Plant&Bird Walk:
The Habitat Nature Preserve Advisory Committee will host a plant&bird walk on Saturday,April 25 at 10:30am,"rain or shine".
Meet at the Habitat Nature Preserve trail head at 23 Salo Dr.,Trumansburg NY 14886.
The walk is about 0.8 miles and will take about 1 hour.
Since parking is limited, please park at the Trumansburg Farmers Market and walk to the trail head. RSVP if you can to

YOUTH FEEDBACK NEEDED:
Ulysses/Trumansburg youth(grades 5-12)(and caregivers)are invited to a"Community Cafe"led by Tompkins County Youth
Services. Please join to share perspectives and discuss what is working well and what gaps and barriers exist in youth programming
in the Ulysses and Trumansburg area.

UHS SPRING PROGRAM:
The community is invited to the spring program at Ulysses Historical Society,39 South St.,Trumansburg on Tues.April 28th at 7 pm.
Following a short business meeting,Steve Peck,who recently donated his diorama of the Trumansburg railroad station and its
surroundings,will share his extensive knowledge of local rail history and his journey in creating this diorama.
In creating this model, he captured how the area looked on a particular August day in 1941. He spent 15,400 hours replicating in
exact detail the railroad station area. Following the presentation,attendees will have the opportunity to see the diorama in the
downstairs exhibit area. Refreshments will be served.All are welcome to this interesting and informative evening.

The Town of Ulysses is seeking proposals from qualified solar contractors for the design, procurement,installation,and
commissioning of an approximately 44.5-kW ground-mounted solar PV system at our Town Barn site,3888 Colegrove Road,
Trumansburg, NY 14886.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS DUE MAY 2:
The Town of Ulysses Youth Employment Program(YEP)provides first-time job seekers in the Trumansburg area/Town of Ulysses with
positive, paid work experience and an opportunity to develop meaningful job skills.Applicants must be at least 14 years old by June
15,2026.
Please submit application by May 2.
