The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office has issued a Travel Advisory for Sunday and Monday due to the impending cold and storm.
Gov. Hochul has declared a State of Emergency.
At the very least, be safe

UPDATE FROM SUPERVISOR:
Greetings, Ulyssians!
In this preparing-for-the-storm edition of the Town newsletter, I want to encourage everyone to be prepared for the upcoming winter
weather.
If you find yourself in need of non-emergency support(during the storm or anytime afterwards),calling 2-1-1 can connect you with
county resources and support.
Have you signed up for SIREN alerts?These are very helpful in letting you know about issues happening,and help me avoid
watermain breaks when I need to go into Ithaca!
As an FYI,the Tompkins County Sheriff is discouraging travel during the storm on Sunday and Monday.
If you do have to be on the roads, please be mindful that our snowplow crews will be out during and after the storm taking care of
our roads. I had an amazing time doing a 4am ride-along back in 2022,and I walked away with a deep appreciation for how large
those trucks are,how difficult visibility can be during a storm,and how other drivers can unintentionally increase risks to everyone
by not giving those big trucks sufficient space. If you must drive during these winter weather events,be mindful of plow trucks and
give them lots of space to do their jobs.
Also,starting this winter,Tompkins County opted to begin plowing their own roads within Ulysses.(For the last many years,it was
done by the Ulysses highway crew,and the decision to change was made by the County DOT.)So,please be aware that the following
roads are not plowed by Ulysses, but by Tompkins County: Dubois, Halseyville,Jacksonville, Kraft, Krums Corners,Perry City, Podunk,
Searsburg,Taughannock Park,Waterburg,Willow Creek,and South Street Extension.
Finally,after this storm is hopefully behind us,the Town Board will next convene on Tuesday,January 27 at 7pm @ Town Hall. It's a
busy agenda,and the public is always welcome to join us in person or online.
PS.Thanks to everyone who reached out in support of book recs! Right now, I'm reading The Goblin Emperor on audio through
the Ulysses Philomathic Library,with Wreck by Catherine Newman lined up on deck. Last night I finished the 4th in the Thursday
Murder Club series. I'd love to hear if you're reading or watching something you recommend,too!As always,for books and

TOMPKINS COUNTY WHOLE HEALTH RELEASES UPDATED 2025-2030 COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT:
Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH)has released the updated Community Health Assessment(CHA),.a report that examines the
factors that shape health and well-being for people who live and work in Tompkins County.This is required to be updated every five
years by NYS public health law.The data will help identify shared priorities and strategies that move Tompkins County toward a
healthier,more equitable future.

STATE OF THE VILLAGE:
The Village of Trumansburg will holds its annual State of the Village event to give citizens an opportunity to hear about programs and
projects from Village trustees,as well as ask questions.The event is scheduled for Saturday,Feb.7 at gam.Contact the Village Clerk
for more information.
TAX FILING HELP:
Lifelong offer tax filing support to persons:
• age 60+(with spouses of any age),or
• with disabilities,or
• with limited-English proficiency,or
• families with incomes below$69,000
In-person preparation will take place at Lifelong in Ithaca, Ulysses Philomathic Library in Trumansburg,and Southworth Library in
Dryden.

FOOD PANTRY:
The Trumansburg Food Pantry is available for anyone who needs a hand stocking the fridge next week. It will be open on Monday,
Jan.26 from 3:30-6pm at the Trumansburg Methodist Church.
Everyone is welcome-there are no residency or financial requirements.Whether you are a senior stretching a fixed income,a
working family facing high heating bills,or just need a hand this month.
Due to record demand,the pantry is seeking donations to help ensure our neighbors have warm meals during the cold weather.

DMV CLOSING FOR UPGRADES:
Tompkins Department of Motor Vehicles,along with all DMV offices in New York State,will undergo a large-scale system upgrade to
replace and modernize its aging technology systems that will require the office to be closed and potentially alter business hours in
February.

All DMV operations,including online transactions and its phone system,will cease at 1pm on Friday, February 13,2026. Reopening is
planned for Wednesday,February 18.
Any changes to that will be posted on the county website and the Tompkins County DMV Facebook page.
