Members Present: Matt Ulinski (chair), Joel Gagnon, Ruth Sherman, Bill Evans,
Mary Woodsen, Dan Klein
Non‐Members Present: Ronda Roaring, Betsy Keokosky
Minutes by Dan Klein
Ruth Sherman introduced herself. She is recently retired from Cornell in the
field of forest ecology. She has lived in West Danby since the early 1980’s.
Privilege of the floor: Ronda asked if the CAC members could have their email
addresses listed on the Town website.
Joel moved, Dan seconded, the March minutes. Passed unanimously.
Doodle poll just went out for Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) Working Group,
for their first meeting.
CAC secretary interviews will be happening this week. Ric Dietrich overrode our
decision to not have a secretary. We have asked for a job description and who this
person would report to, but have not received that information. CJ said some of
the duties of the secretary would be to support the NRI.
Mary thinks some help we could use from the Town instead is someone to help us
with a Facebook page.
Easement template, proposed revision has been recently sent to Guy Krogh.
We discussed possible other meeting dates, but could not find anything that
worked for everyone and helped with the goal of coordinating review of projects
going before the Planning Board. Instead, we will ask to have the Planning Board
packets sent to us and review them outside of our meetings.
Matt will continue to bring printed agendas but just a few copies of the printed
minutes. Matt will also try to get the agenda posted on the website.
Mary reported that we need to get the Town Board approval to spend money
for the rack cards. Matt will work on getting the money part taken care of.
Marketing and easement promotion – Mary will send us a sample mission and
vision statement that she has found. Other ideas: a Facebook page, an estate
planning workshop. Mary will talk with a friend of a friend who is involved with
estate planning. Joel will check with the Finger Lakes Land Trust.
Also mentioned the idea of having small signs on the edges of easement
properties saying, “This land is protected by a conservation easement with the
Town of Danby”.
Matt is working on a presentation for the Danby Seniors.
Matt will put something in the June Danby Area News about easements.
We discussed the idea of approaching owners of good agricultural land in
Danby to see if they may be interested in easements. We will ask CJ if she can
help identify these properties and match them with owner contact information.
