 Minutes of Regular Meeting
April 27, 2015 Present: Joel Gagnon (Chair) Matt Ulinski Don Schaufler Jenny Caldwell Absent Mary Woodsen Dan Klein Others Present: Ronda Roaring Bill Evans The Meeting was opened at 7:00pm Public Comments/Privilege of the floor Rhonda noted Steve Selin has been planting apple trees and getting accolades for his cider. She mentioned to him that maybe we could have event out there. Minutes Joel: add to March minutes – visit from residents who wanted to talk about unity house and brief discussion. March Minutes: Jenny motioned to approve. Don seconded. All approved. Discussion New potential member: Bill Evans. Discussion with Bill Evans about joining CAC. Bill looked at other towns and wondered how we interacted with them. Joel gave history of CAC to Bill – to preserve open space. There was discussion of alternative ways to do this – encourage biofuels, grazing, forest farming, also of zoning history: lots sizes, farmette lot sizes, legacy lot sizes and timing. Bill has joined DCC, to do nature programming. This is also a CAC interest. Bill is from Minnesota, has worked at Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology. He has studied bird migration and sounds, wind farm impact of birds and on the effects of artificial light on birds. Tree Walk: Tree walk was a success. About 18-20 people. Danby Water Tower Walk: Meet at Danby Water District Property. Ronda has maps and knows boundaries. Don will make maps. May 2 at 11AM. Executive Sessions to Discuss Current Easement Out of Executive Session Motion: 4-27-2015 Minutes - Danby Conservation Advisory Council Meeting - Final Submitted By Matt Ulinski Page 2of 2 To authorize Matt to send the easement changes on to the town board for approval after consulting with Guy Keogh. Joel moved. Jenny Seconded. All approved. Talking to property owners: Ronda provided names of property owners in her neighborhood. Discussion of area and values of properties. Sue Beeners also provided names. Motion: The Danby Conversation Advisory Council recommends to the Danby Town Board that Bill Evans be appointed to the Danby Conservation Council... Don moved. Joel seconded. All approved. Matt will send to board. Website No update Meeting Date: The Danby Conversation Advisory Council discussed changing its meeting day to the fourth Thursday of the month. This would be done to accommodate more membership. Motion: To change the next meeting to May 28th. Jenny moved. Don Seconded. All approved. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM.
