 Minutes of Regular Meeting
November 24, 2014 Present: Joel Gagnon (Chair) Matt Ulinski Mary Woodsen Dan Klein Others Present: Ronda Roaring Jack Miller Jenny Caldwell The Meeting was opened at 7:05 pm Public Comments/Privilege of the floor Ronda Roaring asked that the website be discussed. September Minutes: Joel made suggestions for changes. Dan moved to approve, Mary seconded. All Approved October Minutes Joel asked about whether we should/did have wording related to the entire Allport preserve or just the existing purchase. It was agreed that preserve was not part of the working of the motion. Joel moved to approve, Dan seconded. All approved Agenda Water easement parcel, easement blurb, membership, December meeting, Allport parcel, and website. Discussion Matt will call Palmers and Ted to remind them about appraisal and taxes and referral to neighbors. West Danby Water District Property Discussion of town owned property, specifically, the West Danby Water District property. Joel spoke with Tod Sukontarak, West Danby Water District administrator. Todd assumed that the logging was part of what was done normally and had contacted Wagoner Timber to assess. He also had a forester look at property and advised on what to cull. The property is about 29 acres. Ronda Roaring walked property. She saw chickadees, no recent logging evidence, deer blind, large trees, beech, hemlock, and tulip. She suggested it could be good place for CAC to do hikes for the public. The property is surrounded on three sides by FLLT land. Joel asked what do we want to do next. Mary suggested putting on agenda for next meeting. Dan asked Jack to let town board know. Assume no logging in the meantime. Joel will put together a request for clarification on how CAC should steward town parcels. Easement Guide Mary made changes as suggested. Joel suggested that we may need to make a new one guide for each individual easement. Matt, Dan and Mary agreed that tailoring each one is okay. Matt said this would not be an issue until we are doing lots of these. Joel suggested individualize for Melchen and Palmer easements. Dan will send comments to Mary tomorrow. Mary will redo and send out again Ronda Roaring asked if town board should approve it? Joel agreed they could, but CAC is responsible for easement Action item: Mary to edit once more and circulate/ Stewardship Looking for land stewards. Advertise in Danby News. Dan: there is a town volunteer application. We need description of job. Joel FLLT may have this. Look at other land trusts. Action items: Joel will contact FLLT. Everyone take a look and refer back to the CAC. Membership Matt will invite Don S to the next board meeting. How to get members: advertise in Danby News. Invite to meetings. Mary: have a one pager that describes involvement on the board, with volunteer form on the back. Dan – ‘So You Want To Join the CAC’ document. What expertise are we looking for on board? Genesee Land Trust has list of tasks in their newsletter. Action Item: Dan will draft a job description. December Meeting Joel: is December 22nd okay for next meeting? Possibly meet on the 29th? Dan will ask Jake. Keep on 22nd unless Jake can only come on the 29th Action Item: Keep on 22nd unless we hear from Jake that he cannot make it. Website Dan asked Jack about a CAC page. Jack will find out about a CAC page (that does not exist). Who updates? Action Item: Jack to find out from board how website works. Allport Dan heard that the FLLT was asking the county for money. The county has a fund for land trusts. Not taxed based, but available from the funds. It is available for non-county use for preservation of land. If this comes up at county Dan will discuss this.
