HomeMy WebLinkAboutWages and Salary Administration for Public Works Employeesa WAGES AND SALARY ADMINISTRATION FOR PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES EXEMPTION Village officers and certain Village jobs are classified as exempt from overtime -} and minimum wage provisions. Each Village job shall be determined to be exempt or non - exempt by the Board of Trustees. ..; j TIME CARDS Non- exempt employees are required to submit their time worked on approved Village time sheets.' The time sheet is an official Village record and must be'aq. accurate ., account of'the hours worked . each week. Deviation from the standard daily hours of work must be accounted for; e,g., vacation, sick leave, personal leave, hours not .' worked, hours worked over the standard work week. Time sheets are to be signed by the employee and his /her supervisor. The super-,r visbr.,r who signs the timecard must have personal knowledge of the hours wobked " by the employee and must not "adjust the books" or ask an employee to record more or less hours than were actually worked. Such action is a violation of Village policy and may subject the employee and /or supervisor to disciplinary action. 4;••r� ,. STANDARD WORK WEEK AND PAY PERIODS The 'standard work week of the Village Public Works Department is 40 hours. beginning at_12:01.a.m. Monday and ending at 12:00 midnight the following Sunday. Non- exempt ?: "{ ^,;. employees.;,are paid on a bi- weekly basis by checks issued on alternate Fridays. OVERTIME :... All non - exempt employees will be paid at the rate of 1'h times their regular "rate.t= *,;�;+ for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a standard work week. Overtime pay- K ments:will.be computed on the basis of hours actually worked during the;, §tsadard , work week (which begins Monday at 12:01 a.m. and ends the following sun dir- «at.12 Y•C.:..h midnight as recorded on the employee.!t time sheet. Holidays will be considered...;:n;; as time worked and this will be reflected in overtime pay calculations. All other :+;`..; -,'`, .'.`'a• hours paid but not worked will not be counted in calculating overtime. ` Employees must have prior approval from their supervisor to work in excess of their regularly scheduled hours. -:; COMPENSATORY TIME OFF j Compensatory time off may be given during the standard work week at the'discretion•''.`i of the immediate supervisor. Compensatory time off may not be carried forward to' !:;•`' ?r "i subsequent:_work weeks. "r..•,;a; ,i EMERGENCY CALL -BACK y When a non- exempt employee is asked to return to work to take care of some emer- gency which cannot wait until regularly scheduled working hours he /she is entitled to be paid for a minimum of 4 hours or he /she may take 4 compensatory hours off at a time mutually agreed upon with his /her supervisor; provided it be done within the same work week.
