Seek more active participation in the Town’s Comprehensive Planning process in order to promote environmental conservation in the plan. b. Monitor town adoption of the recommended set of scenic views to be protected and develop tools for public education on the importance of scenic resources. Complete the design and installation of at least one additional scenic resource sign by the end of the year. c. Encourage enactment of Coy Glen Conservation Zone by working with Planning Staff to develop the final report and conduct public outreach. d. Investigate invasive species management on Town properties, as affected by climate change and land use disturbance. Establish priority invasive species and sites for eradication (2012 priorities: Emerald Ash Borer, Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, and Swallow-wort). Educate residents and municipal staff on invasive species. e. Follow up on recent recommendations to Codes and Ordinances Committee for changes to Conservation Zoning for tree protection. f. Monitor and engage as appropriate efforts to manage Town deer populations. Educate residents on deterring deer and preventing deer damage. g. Continue to monitor and comment as necessary on regulations to prevent environmental damage related to natural gas drilling. Provide outreach to residents. h. Continue ongoing activities such as Fischer Award, Environmental Review Committee reports to Planning Board, and respond to Town Board requests. i. Investigate ways to enhance the Conservation Board’s outreach, including on the webpage (list work goals, provide public education, etc.). Revised 01/12/12
