SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – MAY 1, 2014
This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday, May
1st at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this memo).
The draft minutes from the March 6th and April 3rd meetings are attached.
At this meeting we will continue to discuss the Draft Generic Environmental Impact
Statement (DGEIS) for the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The deadline for providing
comments to the Town Board is May 5, 2014. On the Town’s website
(http://www.town.ithaca.ny.us/Comp-Plan) is a complete copy of the DGEIS. Please
review the document prior to the May 1st CB meeting so we can discuss any potential
comments the CB would like to provide. If anyone would like a paper copy of the DGEIS,
please let me know and I will get one to you.
We will also discuss at this meeting if the CB would like to schedule an event during the
NY Invasive Species Awareness Week (July 6 – 12, 2014). The New York Invasive
Species Information Website (http://www.nyis.info/blog/) has started to provide helpful
information about planning an event, with obviously more to come.
I am also hoping to finally show the mapping demonstration of several public mapping
websites that contain environmental information that the CB could access for various
projects. I will email everyone the website links so you have them for future reference.
If there is time, we can also continue the discussions of deer management efforts in the
area and on the pest management policy research (examples of pest management policies
from other communities and costs involved) that was requested by the Town’s Public
Works Committee.
We will need a volunteer to take the minutes at the May meeting.
