SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – APRIL 3, 2014
This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday, April
3rd at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this memo).
The draft minutes from the March 6, 2014 meeting are attached, but they may have to wait
until May, as it doesn’t sound like there will be a quorum at the April meeting.
At this meeting we will continue the discussions of deer management efforts in the area
and on the pest management policy research (examples of pest management policies from
other communities and costs involved) that was requested by the Town’s Public Works
Committee.
Also at this meeting, the CB may wish to discuss the Draft Generic Environmental Impact
Statement (DGEIS) for the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. The CB could discuss this as a
full Board or by a smaller group if a couple individuals are particularly interested. The
deadline for providing comments to the Town Board is May 5, 2014. A copy of the Notice
of Completion is included in the packet, which includes additional information. On the
Town’s website (http://www.town.ithaca.ny.us/Comp-Plan) is a complete copy of the
DGEIS along with an updated version of the Comprehensive Plan. If anyone would like a
paper copy of the DGEIS, please let me know and I will get one to you.
Unfortunately the Gateway Trail Open House that I emailed everyone about is at the same
time as this meeting. I will need to go back and forth between the two meetings, so I was
hoping to postpone the mapping demonstration until the May meeting. Maybe at some
point the CB can take a quick break and come up to the Board Room to take a look at the
trail displays.
We will need a volunteer to take the minutes at the April meeting.
