HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-05-15 - CB Memo & Agenda TO: CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBERS FROM: MICHAEL SMITH, SENIOR PLANNER DATE: OCTOBER 28, 2015 SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – NOVEMBER 5, 2015 This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday, November 5th at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this memo). The draft minutes from the September 3, 2015 and October 1, 2015 meetings are attached. At this meeting we will continue the discussion of deer management following the presentation by Bernd Blossey at the October meeting. The CB will need to consider what strategies and plans the group would like to pursue to move forward. The CB may wish to look at the “White Buffalo Inc.” website (http://www.whitebuffaloinc.org/) which was referenced in the presentation as a potential source of assistance or additional information. As an example, copy of the approved 2015 Trumansburg Deer Management Plan and sites map is attached for your information. We will also spend some time at this meeting looking at the Town’s draft Sign Law. For the past couple years, the Town’s Codes and Ordinances Committee (COC) has been working with staff on developing a new sign law to streamline procedures, eliminate confusing language, and update its provisions. The COC recently forwarded the draft law to the Town Board, which has started their formal review. As part of that official review, the Town Board has referred the draft sign law to the Conservation Board for any comments or recommendations. Attached is a copy of the proposed law. I also have emailed everyone copies of the proposed law, a bullet summary of the major changes, a comparison chart, and a copy of the existing Sign Law. If anyone would like paper copies of the other items, please let me know. Since this is a large document and contains a significant amount of changes and additions, this discussion may continue into the December meeting. Vladimir has volunteered to take minutes at the November meeting. If you have any questions prior to the meeting or are not able to attend, please contact me at msmith@town.ithaca.ny.us or 607-273-1747. TOWN OF ITHACA 215 N.
