HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-04-16 - CB Memo & Agenda TO: CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBERS FROM: MICHAEL SMITH, SENIOR PLANNER DATE: JULY 28, 2016 SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – AUGUST 4, 2016 This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday, August 4th at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this memo). The draft minutes from the May 5, 2016 and June 2, 2016 meetings are attached. At this meeting we will have a brief discussion of the invasive species event that the CB held on July 14th. For those that attended, please think about positives, negatives, things to do differently next time, and if this type of event is something to plan again (with or without the NYS Invasive Species Awareness Week). We will also spend some time reviewing the two proposed local laws (domestic animals/chickens and solar facilities) and considering possible recommendations to the Town Board. I had emailed copies of both local laws to everyone, and paper copies are included in this meeting packet. The Town Board will be holding the public hearings and discussing the two proposed local laws at their August 8th meeting, so the CB will need to finalize any recommendations at the August 4th meeting. Also emailed to CB members were copies of the draft signs/displays that the planning intern has been working on regarding Richard Fischer and the environmental conservation award. I have provided small copies in the packet, and will bring 11 x 17 versions to the August 4th meeting. We are looking for any corrections, additions, edits or other ideas for the displays. Also, the question and idea of maintenance of the blue bird houses around Town facilities was raised at the last meeting. I have spoken with Rich Schoch (Town’s Parks Maintenance Manager) and can provide an update at the meeting. We will also continue the discussion on deer management and have an update from the ad hoc deer management committee. Will has signed up to take minutes at the August meeting. If you have any questions prior to the meeting or are not able to attend, please contact me at msmith@town.ithaca.ny.us or 607-273-1747. TOWN OF ITHACA 215 N.
