HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-04-20 - CB Memo & Agenda TO: CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBERS FROM: MICHAEL SMITH, SENIOR PLANNER DATE: MAY 28, 2020 SUBJECT: UPCOMING CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING – JUNE 4, 2020 This is to confirm that the next meeting of the Conservation Board (CB) is Thursday, June 4th at 5:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is enclosed (see the back of this memo). The draft minutes from the May 7, 2020 meeting is attached. As you probably are expecting, this CB meeting will be conducted through the video conferencing website Zoom (https://zoom.us/). I believe that everyone is familiar with Zoom at this point, but you can connect from home using either your computer/tablet/cell phone with video or call in by phone (cell phone or landline). The instructions and code for connecting are on the top of the attached agenda and I will also email everyone a separate invitation with a direct link for the meeting. At this meeting we will discuss the plans for using the CB Facebook page as part of the NYS Invasive Species Awareness Week (June 7-13). The following description has been provided to the Finger Lakes PRISM to include in their calendar as a starting point: Help the Town of Ithaca Conservation Board locate invasive species in the Ithaca area! Using iNaturalist or iMapInvasives, participants can join in the effort to locate invasive species in their backyard. The focus will be on the target terrestrial invasive species identified on the Town of Ithaca Conservation Board Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/IthacaConservationBoard/). The target species will change daily. We'd love to see what you've found and celebrate your discoveries, so please also submit photos to our Facebook page by June 13th to be feature in our ISAW summary Facebook post. Also at this meeting we will continue the discussion about the use of compostable or biodegradable take out containers. Vlad has signed up to take minutes at the June meeting. If you have any questions prior to the meeting or are not able to attend, please contact me at msmith@town.ithaca.ny.us or 607-273-1747. TOWN OF ITHACA 215 N.
