Anderson Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights From: Report of the Police Department for September 2001 For the month of September there were a total of 93 complaints reported to the police department and I motor vehicle accident. There were a total of 84 traffic tickets issued and 19 parking tickets written. During September there were two felony complaints reported for Grand Larceny. A wallet containing cash and numerous credit cards was reported stolen. The complaint was unfounded as the resident located the wallet in his home a few days later. The second Grand Larceny was the theft of items from an apartment, which was left unoccupied all summer. When the resident returned to move her belongings to a new location, she found numerous items missing. There were five misdemeanor complaints reported for Petit Larceny. One complaint was a report of a bag of jewelry missing from a vehicle. That complaint was unfounded as the complainant discovered that she had just misplaced the bag. Two of the Petit Larcenies occurred when subjects pumped gasoline into their vehicles and left without paying. Both subjects were contacted and returned to pay. A power tool was reported stolen from a job site. The final Petit Larceny reported involves the theft of cash by an employee from a business. The case is still under investigation with an arrest pending. There were twelve violations reported for the month of September: eleven for Disorderly Conduct and one for Unlawful Trespass. Nine of the Disorderly Conducts were complaints of loud music being played. All subjects responsible were contacted and the music was either turned down or off. One Disorderly Conduct complaint was that of a female being loud and yelling in the vicinity of A -lot. No one was found. A subject reported that rocks were thrown at her vehicle while traveling down Triphammer Rd. The area was checked but no one was found in the area. The Trespass was that four subjects were observed late evening on school grounds and were asked to leave. There were two complaints involving Village Ordinances: one for a dog running loose and one for a curfew violation. There were three Vehicle and Traffic complaints: one for parking, one for miscellaneous traffic laws and one arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. There were sixty-nine miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of September. Two pending cases reported in August were closed with arrests. After an investigation, a 21- year -old male was arrested for assault and a 23- year -old male was arrested for criminal contempt. During September Officer Cain attended a 3 -day class field at The Broome County Law and Enforcement Academy in Binghamton. The classes dealt with The Advanced Interview/Interrogation Techtiiques and Field Interviews. This department has been meeting with Cayuga Heights School personnel about the safety procedures for an emergency situation. Officer Lansing has once again began his DARE classes. During the month of September the full time officers worked 76 hours of overtime and the part-time officers worked 191.5 hours. There was a total of $1,778 in property reported lost or stolen during the month of September and a total of $42 in property recovered. Sincerely, 1 �� enneth W.
